*URGENT* help needed with AEM CAI install!!
Hey,
i'm installing my AEM cold air intake RIGHT NOW on my TL. In the instructions it says to drain 1 gallon of coolant. Is that correct???
I have an automatic. Why do I need to drain the coolant?
How do I go about draining the coolant? and from where? I'm doing it RIGHT now, so if anybody could PLEASE offer some assistance right away, i'd appreciate it.
Thanks!!!

If this is really worrying you, you can do one of two things.
1. Do what you have to do to install the CAI, and if you take something off and water starts running out, don't worry about it and just get some anti-freeze, mix it 50/50 with water, and refill the radiator when you're done.
2. There is a drain valve at the bottom of the radiator, around the middle, facing forward. You can see it from under the car, and it has a flat part sticking out that you can turn by hand or with a pair of pliers. Just put a pan underneath, loosen the valve, and let the water drain out. If you use a clean pan, you can reuse the antifreeze solution when you're done.
I don't know anything about CAI installation so I can't tell you from experience, but one of the above will work for you.

One on the right for me
drain the coolant? i dont understand, i dont have the aem but that seems unnecessary. every other cold air intake ive installed, including the one on my 04 TL didnt require any coolant drainage.

it wasnt nessesary when i installed my injen. even though i think there IS a coolant line running either into the throttle body or right before the intake...just make sure the car is cool when you install it.
