Installed on Sport Hybrid: Concept One CS-55 wheels (pics post#6)
 

I decided on these after reading one too many Vossen horror stories online. If FedEx is accurate, I should have these this weekend and I'll bolt them on when I get them.

20 x 9, 35mm offset. Continental ContiExtreme DWS tires (no Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 in my desired size, but the DWS reputedly do better in snow) 245/35/20 to keep diameter same as stock. Customized laser engraved Acura logo center caps. Kit comes with Gorilla locking lugs and TPMS.

Should look good on the Sport Hybrid. Hoping the ride is not much worse....but the softer sidewalls of the DWSs should help some.

Also incoming from Japan are lighted JDM Honda Legend door sills. :ecstatic: :ecstatic: I probably won't see those for a long while, though. Fingers crossed that all works out.

Modding is a sickness, and I have it bad..... :tomato:

Most online references indicate that the RLX uses 12x1.5 lugs, and that's what I was sent. That may be true for the PAWS model. The Sport Hybrid, unfortunately, uses 14 mm lugs, as I have now found through my experience. So I won't be installing for two weeks as I'm on call next weekend, and I have virtually no time during the weekday to do this. No one local to me has a set of 20 locks of this size with the same key, so I have to go online to buy them.

Sigh.

The good news is that I can confirm that these wheels clear the brakes. :thumbsup:

So stay tuned and there will be an update in two weeks, before if I can spare enough time to do it prior to that.

I was lucky today! I live 30 minutes from Summit Racing, one of the largest online parts distributors in the country. They had the 14mmx1.5 Gorilla lugs I was looking for. Thought about them while I was in church this morning, drove out there right after. I was able to finish the job this evening. :thumbsup: :woot: Some initial pics taken at the end of the "golden hour" for photography tonight:

I found this on my driver's side front Michelin when I took it off. This is what prompted me to work a little harder to find the correct lugs. Once I saw this, I did not feel safe operating the car. Now I can calmly take it to a tire shop for repair.

Stock wheel and tire weight: 59.6 pounds (tire is 27 pounds, so wheel is 32.6 pounds)
New wheel and tire weight (remember, wheel is an inch larger in diameter and width): 56.4 pounds (tire 26 pounds, so wheel is 30.4 pounds). That's 3.2 pounds less sprung weight at each corner. We'll see how that translates to handling and mileage.

I did a trial run tonight on city streets and the freeway. The handling is a bit crisper. The feeling over bumps is about the same firmness as with the 19's. We'll see how things go as I've had the wheels on longer. I definitely notice a little more tire noise given I've lost the Helmholtz resonators of the stock wheels. It's nothing severe or bothersome to me.

So far, I definitely like the look! It makes my Sport Hybrid look that much sportier.

Ride quality so far on 20's is no different from the stock 19's. Yay! If you want to do 20's, go do it!

MORE tire noise. Then again, for me, this is no different from 25 years of Honda products, so meh. For the record, the Helmholtz resonators in the stock wheels REALLY DO WORK. They are not BS. If you doubt them, spend some time in my car. In other words, George Knighton, this change is not for you as it will add to the interior noise you already experience in your car.

No change in my fuel economy, I'm averaging 26 mpg on the new wheels. Yay!

I love the look more every day. The stance of these wheels gives the car even more road presence. It's amazing how a set of wheels changes the look of this car. YMMV, FWIW, IMHO, :2cents:, etc.

PS, Imageshack is back up and all my images are working. Sorely disappointed because I am a paying customer and the site was down for four days. Do not recommend!

For some reason those wheels make me want to lobby for larger brake disks.

If I had to pick a single thing I would change on this car, it'd be stronger brakes anyway.

I drive a lot. 25,000/year or so. So I am not a big one for changing wheels or tires on my daily driver. No room for extra tire noise...I might be on a phone call for ½ an hour while I'm driving, and I wouldn't want to have to turn the Krell louder because of extraneous noise.

This happens when you get old. You just stop feeling like fooling with things.

Is this correct? The stock Sport Hybrid 19x8" OEM wheel is 32.6 pounds?? Yikes, that is extremely heavy. I wonder then if the P-AWS 19" OEM wheels weigh the same... Anyone know the answer to this?

I just ordered a set of 19x8.5" wheels which are only 26 pounds each. The 6.6 pound difference at each wheel should be noticeable from an acceleration perspective I suspect (or hope!).

It should be about 1whp gained per 1lb saved per wheel...

I ordered a set of Rotiforms (19x8.5 ET35). Based on my calcs, they should sit flush and give the car a more aggressive stance. I don't plan on altering the suspension, and didn't want either a rougher ride on 20's or a larger visible side wheel gap - so I stuck with 19's. I'm just swapping my OEM rubber (245/40R19) and TPMS. I'll then use my stock 19's with winter tires for my winter set up.

Although they have been ordered and deposit paid, I'm heading south for a few weeks vacation in March so I'm not in any rush to get them installed. I'll schedule an appointment for early April. I'm also getting my rear calipers painted black as they look unfinished in contrast to the fronts. I'll post some pics when it's all done.

The weights are correct. I weighed them on the day I installed the new wheels/tires. I looked up the weight of the tires on the Tire Rack and subtracted from the total weight I measured to come up with the wheel weight. Don't forget, the stock wheels have a Helmholtz resonator built in. It's an extra piece and I'm sure that adds to the weight.

What the hell is a Helmholtz Resonator? Is that anything like a flux capacitor?

Helmoltz resonators are designed to absorb & suppress sound. This structure is designed into the RLX PAWS and SH OEM wheels. The intent is to further reduce some tire noise frequencies.

Have you ever installed these, Bob? Your lease is soon up! Remind me what trim color your SH is....graystone? I tried to get LEGEND sill plates myself, but the gaystone / gray / quartz interior color is not available on the JDM model. Only black / ebony and seacoast / orchid. Hence I have the black Acura sills. If by some magic yours are gray LEGEND sills, I'd be interested in them! :wish:

Are these the silver finish or matte gunmetal?

Are they the standard/concave/deep concave?

Also, where did you get the kit with Acura centers, lugs, and TPMS?
