How to get Sport Manual to return to Sport Automatic
So something I've found a little wonky...
1. You engage Sport mode. Transmission shifting is still automatic.
2. At some point you decide that you want go into manual transmission mode and you tap one of the shifter paddles.
3. At some point you decide you would like to go back to automatic transmission but would still like to keep Sport mode engaged.....
To my knowledge, the only way to perform step 3 is to tap the Sport mode button to disengage Sport mode and then re-engage it.
Is there some way to do this without having to shift the modes back and forth like that? To me it's not a very fluid process. Maybe something simple like holding both paddles down for 1 second or something would provide a more fluid transition back.

It does do that, but only when it's in "Normal" mode, not "Sport" mode.
In "Sport" mode, it only downshifts automatically for you. The only gear that it will automatically upshift for you in "Sport" mode is from 1st to 2nd, from there it will hold each gear indefinitely until manually shifted no matter how hard you push the RPMs.

I know exactly what you are talking about. It seems to behave as described in all Acura vehicles I've driven (TSX, MDX, TL).
I have had a BMW and G37. The do the same thing. I guess it's industry standard?!

In my 2007 MDX Sport....you can hold it in first as long as you want..... 2008+ Acura detuned and took that away and makes it shift from 1st to 2nd...

Lexus allows you to do this by repeatedly pressing the up-shift paddle.
I'm not sure how many times it takes, I just keep tapping it until it goes back to automatic. (Maybe 5-6 times)

What I'd like to do is find a way to be in Sports Mode (Automatic) and get into 6th gear below 70 mph!!

was going back through old posts, and came across this one. for the record, the way to do what I was asking for in the original thread post is to hold down the right paddle until it goes back to "automatic". This is for "Sport" mode only.

Just because that's what I want. :-p
The change in temperatures over the past few days has reminded me that it's possible to get 34 mpg in these cars, and it seems somehow wasteful or socially irresponsible to have to stay in sixth gear at 55 mph.
It's not a big deal. It would just potentially save the moment it takes to push the Sport Mode button, which I have to admit is really no effort at all. You don't even have to look to do it, since it has the bumps on it so you know your hand has touched it.
