Say, you should post up a nice comparo between the RLX and TLX....

Interior design - RLX; tough to beat this car
Ride quality - the TLX with 18" 50 series tires wins this one. You don't feel every imperfection in the road
Transmission - RLX 6-speed vs TLX V6 9-speed; so far, the TLX (I can barely tell when it shifts). Plus the IDS modes are Econ, Normal, Sport and Sport plus.
Audio - RLX Krell vs TLX ELS; Easy, RLX but TLX has a fine system in it plus I like how the SiriusXM display shows artist & song without leaving the MID. Also, with the HDD in the RLX you can choose the quality to record CDs to the HD but not in the TLX.
Fit 'n Finish - RLX, but very close.
Leather quality - toss up since both are Milano
Cabin quietness - I have to give this one to the TLX, for now. That is the first attribute I noticed when I test drove it.
Acceleration - toss up; 310 HP RLX (heavier car) vs 290 HP TLX
Headlight illumination - toss up; both great
In-cabine storage - RLX has a larger center consol even though does not have a shifter handle - it is push button.
Cabin space - RLX. To me the TLX is between the TL & TSX in interior space plus RLX legroom in rear is superior
TLX has folddown rear seats; RLX does not
I do not care for the exposed TLX front cup holders
RLX steering wheel is a bit more plush/soft
Two very different auto mobiles but alike in some ways. As expected, the TLX is more sportier while the RLX is more refined. Acura will do well with this car, again. It is obvious by the advertising campaign that Acura is betting on the TLX to be a winner.

[QUOTE=miner;15161041]Exterior lines - I give the nod to the RLX

Meant to say "...even though TLX V6 Adv does not have a shifter handle..."

To add to my comparo - the seats of the RLX are more comfortable than the TLX although the upper bolsters on the TLX are a nice addition. To look at the MSRP of both cars - 43,500 TLX V6 Adv vs 60,500 RLX Adv - I am feeling the 17K difference in price is justifiable. Once again, the RLX is over-priced. I do hope to see Acura come out with a Type S version with more than just visual bolt ons. Honda needs to come back with the HFP items in the Acura line-up.

I have to agree. Even though I am still a steadfast believer that the JDM assembled Hondas are better than the US (and only slightly anymore) I do not see the value gap between the TLX and RLX as broad as Acura attempted.
For more an apples to apples configuration an Advance PAWS RLX is IMHO only $5-6K more car than an Advance PAWs RLX. And interestingly that was about where the RLX was discounted (approx. $49-50K for the Advance RLX).
Yes, the RLX has a plusher interior, larger rear seat and Krell audio as it's primary differentiators in the comparison, and there are a few features on both models that the other does not offer, but as a whole I cannot see a $16K value gap (as stickers). As TLX pricing softens they gap widens.
Add that the Advance TLX can come with SHAWD and still well undercut the RLX Advance and that is an attractive sweet spot. Of course there are driving characteristics of both cars that may trump the value comparison. But to a generic consumer, Acura makes the RLX a tough sell.
It reminds me of when I bought my former TL, I did not even look at the RL simply because I could not see what justified the price gap.
I thought Acura had grown past that quandary and now I find myself in the same analysis I was in when I bought my TL 9 years ago. History repeating itself.

Same here when I bought my 09 TL Sh-awd Tech 5 years ago. I didn't even consider the RL. Seems like in 09 Acura just slapped the new ugly grille on the RL and didn't bother to update anything else. It was hard for me to pass on a newly designed 4G TL with better tech (HDD audio vs. 6 CD changer in the RL, DVD based navigation system in the RL vs. HDD navigation in the TL). Now I understand why the 09-12 RL was such a slow seller.

Three Wheelin'
If they added 1) IDS from the MDX (which includes tightening of the steering wheel, unlike the TLX), 2) panoramic moonroof, 3) rear seat A/C controls 4) HUD on all models, 5) better suspension, 6) add the enhanced TPMS from the TLX, 7) parking assist, 8) remote start included, 9) faster/more responsive NAV system.....THEN and only THEN could I see the price gap being justifiable....

Agreed...got a '14 RLX Tech as a loaner the other day while having accessories installed in my TLX (i4 base). Don't get me wrong, RLX is a very nice car. Very enjoyable ride - nice luxury feel. However, overall they feel very similar - layout, center stack, tech, seats. If I had the money and was deciding between the two, I'd definitely take the TLX V6 Advance over RLX Advance.
