Is the infotainment and head unit in the 18 RLX Hybrid that bad?
A few folks are saying the RLX head unit / infotainment is horrible, laggy slow and takes multiple button presses to accept input. As I go through my decision process between thw 18 RLX hybrid and 19 TLX Aspec AWD I am trying to evaluate the pain points in each. The infotainment is a weak category in both and the TLX ZF is a huge detractor from me deciding for it. I have driven both and they each have their strengths and weaknesses. I realize the RLX head unti has not changed since launch, but I would think it is about on par with my 15 TLX?

I previously had a 2015 TLX before moving to a 2014 RLX SH and there are two things I miss from the TLX: (1) Siri Eyes Free and (2) being able to see the band and name of the song playing on the bottom screen.
Having also driven several 2018 TLX loaners with the updated tech/Carplay, etc., the updated tech does not entice me to go back to a TLX; I'm just fine with the "lower tech" RLX.

I previously had a 2015 TLX before moving to a 2014 RLX SH and there are two things I miss from the TLX: (1) Siri Eyes Free and (2) being able to see the band and name of the song playing on the bottom screen.
Having also driven several 2018 TLX loaners with the updated tech/Carplay, etc., the updated tech does not entice me to go back to a TLX; I'm just fine with the "lower tech" RLX.

mk5 has a 2014 SH, with has a much stiffer suspension then the 2016 SH onwards.
I have a 2016 SH, and I have driven a 2014......

Ah so they softened the ride compared to,earlier gen. I do remember test driving the RLX when it first came out and the ride was very choppy and non compliant almost skidish in its handling. I had never driven the Hybrid until this year. While I felt the 18 Hybrid rode very well, it did seem to wallow a bit on roads that had undulations almost bringing back memories of the old Ford Crown Vics and Town Cars, but of course not that bad. ;-)

Correct. Limelight test drove a 2014 SH and a 2016 SH, in the end he ended up with the 2014 (he owned a 2014 P-AWS at that moment).
I felt the same way as you in the beginning, going from me 2015 P-AWS to the 2016 SH. It took me a month or so to get used to it, and now I would not go back to the 2015.......
IMHO after you get used to the initial "lean", "body roll", "wobble", the chassis settles in very nicely and inspires a lot of confidence. Especially when driven spiritedly (of course this is from a complete amateur, not a racer driver).....
