When they got to the point that they wanted me to sit down with the finance manager, the first words out of my mouth were, look, you guys have been making me buy extended warranties since 1999 and the only time I have ever had to use a Honda or Acura warranty was on the ITR around 100,000 miles when somebody volunteered to replace the hatch struts.

But, sure thing, the guy's talked me into a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper (except wear items) warranty for $1200.

Am I the only stupid person or are we all buying extended warranties?

I did. Since we plan to keep this car for a while. It is good to have. We got acura care for 8y/100k miles.

While we sold our 5 years old honda odyssey, because it still under honda care, so we were able to sell it for pretty good price.

I believe the salesmen push so hard on the extended warranty sales because they receive a very nice bonu$ for each warranty sold (I've heard that something like $200 - $300 of that $1200 price for the extended warranty is given to the salesman but that is purely hearsay).

I've never bought an extended warranty for a Honda product and have never had a problem, but that said the piece of mind that it brings and the advantage to having it when it comes time to sell the vehicle are valid points.
