RLX Brakes
Whether they actually did anything or not, I was always enamored with the RL brakes, 12.6" ventilated disks front and 12.2" ventilated disks back, 4 piston aluminum calipers up front, and a single piston aluminum units in the back http://acuranews.com/channels/acura-...ura-rl-chassis.
I have always had single piston brake calipers, otherwise, but the RL brakes seemed exceptional, especially in their pad life, with 70K miles not being abnormal for the fronts, and 80-90K for the rears. I took the RL to the track once, and they did not seem to have the fade problem the old 2G Legend had. I notice that the new RLX has a much more pedestrian brake set up, single piston calipers front an rear, smaller diameter 12.3" ventilated front rotors and 12.2"solid rears. I guess new owners will not be having front wheel fitment issues of the 2G RLs! |
obviously the P-AWS system will take care of everything and the car will stop on a dime.

^^ Sort of like skiers (well, at least lessor ones like me :D) using pizza* to stop? It's actually kind of clever, now that I think of it.

you wouldn't need to use Pizza if you had P-AWS.
somehow I don't understand how a car looking like it needs to pee would increase the contact patch between wheels and the ground in order to stop faster. I thought max contact patch = max traction |
i thought the rear toe-in under (heavy) breaking was purely a stability type of thing.

To the OP, I thought the same thing. I really like the brake on my 2005 RL. I, too, thought that they were going backwards.
I wonder if it is simply not offered on the 2WD version and maybe offered on the AWD version? Maybe? |
