Mod for Foot-Well Lighting...

I love the subtle amber-orange lighting in the foot-wells of my Advanced. However, it only comes on when the doors are open. Would love for them to stay on for added ambience while driving.

Anyone know of a possible way to mod this?

I have a vague recollection of being able to set/adjust the footwell lights on the RL, so there may be something you can do with the RLX - search the manual. If you already have exhausted that option, then, sorry, I can't help.

^I've never heard of such a setting on the 2G.

OP, find the wires powering the lights (underside of the dash panels in the 2G) and tap a wire into the supply that is always on with the ignition.

I scrolled through the MID settings menu of my RL today and the interior lights setting that I mentioned in my earlier post only lets you change the length of time the lights stay on after you open the door up to 60 seconds.

My bad, sorry. Good luck with the mod.

Interesting topic. In our Honda CRZ the footwell lights are on all the time. However, the little LEDs are sitting in a shroud that limits the amount of light transmission. A popular modification was to drill out the pinhole to allow more light through.

The only limitation you may run into is the voltage. I highly doubt the voltage is 5V, but I wouldn't put it past Honda. Be sure to check before you tap.

The footwell lights in the 2G RL were a blue LED and it stays on all of the time that the ignition is on. Am I missing something here, is the 3G different?

Yes, it's different in the 3G. The color is now an amber-orange color (which I really like), and it's not only in the foot-wells but also in the side-pockets of each door. It's a really nice accent, just wish it was on all the time.

I couldn't find any options at all to adjust in the system settings. so looks like a mod will be required.

The 2G has the door pocket lights too but it seems that the only change is the color and that they go off.

So the idiots took all of the Amber and put it in the foot wells instead of in the rear turn signals?
