Jack Rabbit versus RLX

A jack rabbit jumped on the highway in front of my wife Tuesday night. Well the rabbit did not make it. The RLX is alive with 2500.00 worth of damage. Hit right on the drivers side below the headlight area. Front bumper needs to be replaced, turn light assembly needs to be replace, 2 temp sensors need to be replaced (car thinks it -3F out in Alabama). Allot of clips underbody plastics being replaced.

Have 0 deductible on comprehensive so not bad on that, will be with out car for 3 days we think. Good thing she is on vacation next week and we did not plan on going anywhere.

Hey those headlights if you break one, 2200.00 bucks. Glad it did not take one of those out.

As you can see it does not take much to do $2500 damage. Glad it was not a deer.

Glad to hear that your wife is ok.

I guess the CMBS™ system wouldn't work in this "Jack Rabbit" scenario.

either host the pic on flicker or photobucket and post the linkie...another option...upload to acurazine in your photo album and then post it (the link).

THAT was $2500? Frightening.

I agree, though, thank goodness it wasn't a deer.

It broke both temp sensors and lots of the under side plastics are broke and clips are gone. The turn signal light is trashed and has to be replaced also.

He priced in allot of parts that where loose because the snap in clips on things we could see where sheared off.

Happy your wife was not injured - car can be repaired and the damge is not that significant. I recently had a friend whose 3-series BMW hit a deer, caused him to veer off the road, deployed airbags, totaled the car. When the wrecker driver came to get the car and as he was driving away the wrecker driver hit a deer. This was in SE Texas

Deer cause a lot of damage to vehicles especially this time of the year. I read an article in Car & Driver a good while back that indicated that November was the #1 month for deer collisions. Also, West Virginia had the highest number of deer hits than any other state. Be careful out there, especially around dusk and later.

Good luck on having your car repaired and be thankful it wasn't any worse.

ScottBjorn3D, Glad to hear that your wife is ok.
Regarding the repair cost...now you know why your insurance premiums are so high. I got side swiped while my car was parked two years ago, you could barely tell that the car was hit and yet it was $4800 worth of damage because of all the "internal" or hidden damage. I gained new respect for automotive engineers when the car was taken apart and I saw all of the ducts and sensors and wiring that are all hidden in spots you think is just dead space.

Condolences to Mrs. Jack Rabbit and their 8000 children.

I agree....glad your wife didn't hit something more significant like a deer but where I am from, moose are the hazard on the road. Hit one one those and there is no way you survive!! They are high on their legs and the hood of the car will go under the gut leaving the windshield and the front occupants of the car to take a full impact.
