A14 Service is this expensive?

Hey everyone

I’m doing my a14 service at Acura for my 2014 rlx and 2014 mdx. The rlx is at 100k miles and mdx 106k miles.

I do my own oil and rotation so I am not doing those on both cars. What I am doing for both cars are is the ‘4’(which is the timing belt and related parts, water pump, and spark plugs, coolant flush) and a brake fluid flush(fluid flush quoted 109.00 for each car).

I am being quoted 2450 each car, or 4900 for both.

Isn’t this amount excessive? I was expecting 1500 at most for both. Is nearly 2500 the normal price for the ‘4’ service.

as a side note, I am posting this in the mdx forum as well

I was quoted 1500 out the door for the full timing belt/ water pump service (along with the proverbial “It is recommended at 6 years regardless of mileage...” because my rlx only has 60k on it). I would say that is really high especially without the oil/ rotate. Granted you are in LA but it can’t be that much more expensive than here in CT.

$5000 seems a little steep! It was around $1500 for my 11 MDX Adv for the B14 service a few years ago. I don't know what the total cost would have been because I changed my spark plugs at 75,000 miles, lifetime with Discount Tires for rotation/balance, bring my own engine oil, change my cabin/engine filters myself, and brake fluid was changed out a year earlier.

It was around $600 ea for my 06 TSX and 08 RDX for the A14 because of having a timing chain.

Thanks for the responses and information.

I reached out to my own mechanic for my old Mazda and he is quoting me 1400 per car and a local Honda dealer is 1600 per car.

I value my Acura dealer, but at 2500 per I will have to go with Honda this round.
