1 Year Anniversary 30k miles
Acura emailed me to remind and thank me on the 1 year Anniversary of my 2020 RLX Advance Hybrid. I bought it new last year while visiting back home in NY for the July 4th Holiday. I was not really looking to replace my beloved 173k mile 2012 RL, but the $11k factory incentive, $1k owner loyalty, and another $4k Rallye Acura incentive coupled with a generous offering of in stock colors and a dealer and salesman I know and trust very much, made the decision an immediate slam dunk. To Acura's credit, I have come to love this car the more I live with it and the miles accumulate (same for both my prior 2006 RL and 2012 RL). Typical Acura, at least so far the car has been pretty much faultless. The fuel economy is excellent (about 32mpg avg on most tanks), the maintenance costs are next to nothing (unlike my families Audi's, Land Rover, and Mercedes which are polar opposite and require a lot more attention). I do some long distance driving for my job as well as trips to Florida. The RLX is a sheer delight and joy for the long journeys as well as making the best of driving through local intense traffic situations.
One of my early on small nit picks with the RLX vs RL was some of the interior cost cutting. All through high school and college I hand detailed cars, then out of college I worked for Michelin on the GM account in the 1990's when GM was ruthlessly cutting costs and for the most part had horrific interiors, so this is just something I am very sensitive to. Earlier this year I went with one of my best friends to order her new 2021 Audi A6 Prestige. A stunning car. But after driving and really looking over the A6 that had a sticker of $71k and actual cash sell price of $66.5k I have that much more appreciation for the RLX Advance. I paid $20k less for the RLX and to me the RLX and A6 Prestige are similar in many many ways. Audi interiors look great, but they too have had a lot of cost cutting and use a lot of plastic. The other surprise on the Audi was how light the steering is and devoid of feel. The RLX is no NSX, but frankly feels more sporting than the A6.

really?! cause I see Accord in the RLX, especially with that rear door and C pillar. The A6 is stunning.

I was able to put 5200 miles in the last 12 months and only 8900 miles since purchased CPO in Dec of 2019 (16,800 total). The lockdown probably gave me another year of two on the back end from my usual 10-12 yrs I keep my vehicles. Plenty of time for Acura to come out with the replacement RLX/Legend BEV +500 mile range, 500 hp/tq, and 30 min total charge time.
