Liftgate not closing fully - beeping

When my liftgate closes and latches I hear about 10 beeps in rapid succession which sounds like an indication of a problem. Upon inspection, it looks like the right side is not fully seated as the rear body panel and that of the liftgate are not aligned. Anyone had this problem?

Also, I couldn't find anywhere in the manual a translation for the beeps in rapid succession.

I don't get the beeps, but my left (driver's) side protrudes a little, and you can see the taillight isn't lined up square like the other side. I am heading to the dealership to get this checked out next week.

Are you walking and more than 5’ away? I’ve notice that if I hit the close button and start walking away before it fully closes and latches then it beeps like you’re saying. I haven’t tested and confirmed my theory but I thought it was because it hasn’t locked and is letting you know the doors are still unlocked.

I could be totally wrong but it’s only been when I’m walking into the gym or something after I’ve hit the button and it’s not completely closed and latched.

Yes, "protrude" was the word I should have used. I've done some further testing and what Dizzy suggested is correct. If you walk away from the vehicle before all doors are fully closed and locked, you will hear the beeps. If you stay near the vehicle until it locks you only hear one beep.

I too will be off to the dealer tomorrow to have them assess the protrusion. I didn't think I would be the only person with the issue. Although I've never owned an Acura until now, I think and hope that Acura deems the alignment outside their "precision" tolerances. "Precision crafted performance" can only come with "precision crafted manufacturing" IMHO. We shall see.

Thanks Mark and Dizzy.

Yep I just tested and proved my theory. You have to make sure it fully closes and locks before walking away. Or just manually hit the fob when you’re walking away. It’s a reminder alert that you left it unlocked. Nice of them to do that.

I dont have any protrusions on mine. If I wanted to nitpick I could say that it’s less than 1.5mm off center but I’m not that picky. More concernin is the duck farts on open/close. Waiting to hear the fix on that!

My liftgate has flatulence too. Just a theory but maybe the moaning and the alignment are causal.

Possible but mine isn’t out of square really. I thought they May have overtightened the hinges. Could be an easy fix once identified. Or we hope anyway

I wondered why it did that. Now I know. :)
