Gas leaking into oil?
#41
Burning Brakes
Mine is above the mark after 7000km (4350 miles) and 6 months. The oil did not have a strong gas odour but I checked it after it had been sitting on a level pad overnight and it was about 4C (39F) inside the garage. I do make a very short trip every week day and a longer 25 minute commute two days a week.
Taking it in for its' first service in the next week or two.

first noticed the smell at 5000 miles that got progressively worse. At 6500 miles, checked oil level and it was well above the orange plastic. Oil life 30%.
Took it to Acura and got the standard “ never heard of it” and “sorry can’t diagnose anything since there are no error codes”
Got an oil change and left.
Funny thing, the oil level was at the bare minimum level on the dipstick after running and letting the engine warm up.
Next, called Acura client relations and explained the situation. Final result: “Sir, you can take it back to the dealership but without any error codes they wouldn’t know what to do”
Here is my future plan:
1) Check oil level every 1000 miles. Take a picture and document
2) Send oil for analysis before every oil change. I’ll schedule an oil change based on oil life indicator.
3) Not bother to go to service unless I get any error codes on the car.
For us poor customers that spent 50k on a luxury car, our best bet is to collect data and build a case.
Typical vehicle use:
Weekday: 2 trips of 40 mins each @ 50% highway
Weekday: 3 trips of approx. 5 mins each
Weekend: Occasional drive of min. 45 mins.

Sorry to tell you this, but Acura Client Relations won't do anything for you even with documented proof. I went through all of this with them and my dealer last year with my '19 RDX. Head tech at the dealer saw the issue multiple times, and 3rd-party analysis showed "severe" levels of fuel in oil. Acura brushed it off to "normal behavior for direct injection engine" and was operating as intended. Case closed. Sorry, I feel for you.

Hyundai 2.0T and Honda 1.5T and other DI engines do this. It is way worse when cold outside because the car is in cold start mode longer and its under a rich condition dumping fuel into the engine. Getting on boost wihth the engine is cold will also add to the problem. Fuel is getting past the rings and into the oil. Its not good but there are several companies that call it "normal"
