Car rolls back when shifting to Park?

Sometimes when I reverse in to a parking spot and then shift to park and let go of the brake, the car rolls back quite drastically.

I am starting to get in to the habit of e brake first and then Park but wondering if anyone else's car does this.

Most automobiles will move a little forward or back once you put the Transmission into Park. Your solution is correct to use the Parking Brake first.

See the thread and/or YouTube on activating the Auto parking brake. It however as I understand since I just read the thread activates the parking brake when you open the door, so if you are parking on a hill manually engaging the parking brake is a best practice. There is considerable "slack" in the drive train so you can get "roll" with (P) engaged
