Gunmetal vs Black vs Modern Steel

Requesting photographs for Gunmetal and Black cars. I am leaning towards Gunmetal but wondering how close it is to Black....

These are from an area dealership’s ‘19 RDX Launch Event I attended (Majestic Black Pearl Advance). I think Gunmetal is quite a bit on the pearlized dark gray / silver side of the spectrum compared to the saturated midnight black of the MBP.

The cars were very dirty (dust and pollen) and I now think that the lighter colors look less dirty than the darker colors blue, black or gunmetal)..

I think the chrome trim actually works pretty well with the modern steel paint. If going A-spec, you can only get it with the red seats.

While I love the looks of the A-Spec, I am leaning towards the Advanced for the other features. I do however like the A-Spec wheels a lot.

I am considering an Advanced in Black / Gunmetal/ Metallic Silver and then possibly going for the 19" Black Wheels added. I have been playing around with the images on the site to see how that would look...tough to tell although on the website it looks like Gunmetal + Black Wheels might be my favorite
combination.

Has anyone seen this combo anywhere? Any thoughts?

Here’s my modern steel A Spec. I live the fact that the wheels match the paint color

I think its beautiful looking. great choice.

i need to make up my mind between ASpec and Advanced.

If I go with Advanced, then I am considering Modern Steel or Gunmetal but with the Glint Black wheels that Acura offers as an accessory.

That looks awesome! I definitely want the A-spec and this combo is at the top of my list since blue-over-red isn't available in Canada.

Is your RDX Gun Metal or Modern Steel? I’ve seen both and if end up going with ebony interior (it’s between DW/Expresso or a dram Grey/ebony)...not sure which I’d go with. My take is that Gun Metal is halfway between Modern Steel and Black. It’s really beautiful but, I too, thought it might show dirt like black. Decisions, Decisions

We looked at both this week. You're right Gun Metal is between Steel and Black. Gun Metal was too close to black for us(we're not the wash the car every other day type). We are going with Steel and Ebony. We didn't care for the gray interior.

The nice thing about dark cars is that the stand out and demand attention when they are clean and shined, but when they are dirty they disappear. There are times when it is good to disappear and not call attention to yourself.

Interesting how preferences vary from person to person. Of all the interior color options Graystone is my favorite. If I could factory order any color combination it would be either white or red with the Graystone. As it is my dealer is looking for a white or red with Parchment or Modern Steel with Graystone - whichever shows up first will be the one I buy.

yeah that’s why I can’t decide on blue or black. Most everyone I ask says gotta go blue. It’s exclusive, won’t show the dirt and wear as much, and it pops more than any other colors. But I don’t want to ana radar magnet. Black is stealthy! I’m so torn!!!!! Aaaahhh

My RDX is Gunmetal with Ebony(black) interior. Its actually not as dark as I thought. Has a decent amount of flake in the paint. I'm happy with it though. I wish they offered a black headliner option as well in the Advanced. Other than that and maybe eventually change the wheels I'm a happy camper.

A few pics I snagged of my majestic black pearl getting the works (never uploaded pics before so hopefully the resolution is decent). I should have pics of the advanced wheels powder coated tomorrow or friday for those interested in doing the same! The amount of flakes in the paint is amazing. Really makes the car sparkle!

Beautiful car! What did “the works” consist of? Did you get a clear coat or ceramic coat?

I ppf'd the full front hood, door handles, trunk unload area, mirrors and a few other minor areas. After that, 2 layers of ceramic pro 9h and 1 layer of ceramic pro light (to be honest I'm not sure if he's done the ceramic coating as yet or if the pics are just with the ppf.) He obviously did the first wash (told the dealer not to touch the exterior pre-pickup) and any necessary paint correction as well before doing the above!

I have a friend that is in the industry in the Toronto area and is getting everything done for me at a discount. But from what I googled, PPF'ing those areas usually run somewhere between $2000-3000 (Canadian) depending on the brand of film used (he uses Xpel which seems to be pretty recommended online). The ceramic coating with ceramic pro 9h seems to be usually between $1000-$1500 (Canadian) but can run you significantly higher depending on the number of layers of coating you want.

Exactly what I have on order...gunmetal metallic with ebony interior. Your car makes me impatient since mine won’t even be built for a week. I too would love the black headliner. I had it in two Audis and it gives the interior a richer look.

Your pictures res make me happy I chose this color. Very sharp looking car. Thanks.

I'm beginning to like that color on the A-spec. My only concern is no other option for interior color except the Deadpool special

That color looks great, and it will TOTALLY disappear from the crowd when it's dirty. Very low profile that way, and when it's clean and shiny - look out! Very sharp!

I bought an Advanced. Went to the dealer expecting to get the Gunmetal but ended up choosing the Modern Steel.

I replaced my wheels with the Glint Black and really like the contrast between the Modern Steel and black rims.

Both colors are really nice though.

The Ebony Interior that comes with the Modern Steel Advanced is gorgeous. Really was even nice than I expected - the piping really stands out.

Yes, the Ebony with cream piping is very nice. We have Ebony interior in our 15 yr old TL and the interior looks just as good now as it did new...no joke! That alone is a great selling point. I opted for a lighter interior for a change. My Advance has the Greystone interior with dark grey piping. (And it too is quite nice).
