OEM Air Scoop Modification for upgraded turbo set up
Hi Guys, just wanted to share a bit of information that could be useful for those running an upgraded turbo set up with the stock air box.
As you know the OE air intake has a scoop that feeds air to the resonator pipe, and on into the air box.
During my ongoing tuning I noticed the plastic rod that keeps the top and bottom separated kept coming out of place, not thinking anything of it I would just adjust it back into place and move on.
After my third revision log (boost increase) I started to notice under moderate to WOT that car started to perform poorly.
When this happens it would restrict the amount of air feeding into the system, thus giving a reduction in engine power which feels like a boost/vacuum leak.
After a trip to the local hardware store I found the following items worked to add rigidity to the scoop, therefore keeping it open for all of the glorious air to be breathed in.
1- 5/16 x 2.5in bolt
2- 1inch washers
1- 1/2 section of pex pipe cut to size big enough to support the top and bottom parts of the scoop
1/2 shrink wrap
1- locking t bolt w 5/16 thread pitch
Thank you DRob for your assistance w tuning as always.

Not a bad upgrade for someone just wanting to tinker and prevent and collapsing. Maybe I will do it for shits and giggles. I think the (now defunct) PRL intake tube came with something to upgrade that piece.
