2019 Acura RDX Painted Brake Calipers Project
If you have a floor jack, four jack stands, a Dupli-Color BCP400 Red Brake Caliper Kit, and a free afternoon, you too can have painted brake calipers.

Thanks for sharing. It looks awesome 😎. I bought the same kit on Amazon several weeks ago and waiting for the weather to get warmer to do it. I had the A-Spec and black wheels. The red painted calibers will come out nicely due to the contrast. I can’t wait to paint mine after seeing your pictures. Great job!
How many layer of paint did you apply?

ToniRDX19,
Thanks for your kind words. The cleaning and preparation work of the brake calipers is the key to good results. The actual painting then went on smoothly. The whole process is very time consuming. It's a labor of love, so take your time.
Tips:
I first cleaned the brake calipers with Simple Green and various scrub brushes, before hitting them with the supplied aerosol caliper cleaner. Allow everything to dry thoroughly.
I masked off all the areas I did not want to get painted with blue painter's tape. I also removed the wire clips on the rear brake calipers to make painting easier.
The supplied brush is adequate, but I would recommend buying additional brushes from your local hardware store.
The paint tends to thicken up in the can. I used a very little amount of paint thinner to thin out the paint and make it easier to apply.
While waiting for the paint to dry, I took the opportunity to clean the inside of the wheels.
To answer your question, I applied one good goat to each brake caliper. After an hour or so, I applied a lighter touch up coat. I reinstalled the wheels, then let the paint dry and cure overnight. I used less than 1/4 of the supplied paint, so you will have more than enough to do additional brake caliper painting projects, as well as touch ups.
Good luck painting your Aspect, and don't forget to post pics.

Thanks for the tips Excalibur1. I will document and post.
While at it I am going to change out the stock squeaky brake pads. I bought the rear and front Wagner ceramic Thermoquiet pads from RockAuto. I save the OE pads just in case Acura ever decided to change them out. It’s embarrassing driving with a squeaky brakes.

Toni RDX19,
If you are going to replace your brake pads, you may want to paint your brake calipers while they are completely off the brake rotors. Just a thought.

Just took my RDX out for a road test. Braking distance greatly improved with the new red painted brake calipers. The butt dyno also recorded a 25 HP increase at the wheels. I'm lovin' it.

I bought a set of the caliper covers that are online all over the place. I have them on my Mazdaspeed 3 and now on the RDX. The front ones have “Acura” painted on them, the rears have “RDX”. I had issues with one of the fronts that was rubbing on my A-Spec wheel, but it went away quickly. They are metal and painted with a great enamel paint. Mine are red. I will take a pic and post it.

ToniRDX19,
Excellent prep, taping and paint job. As my old friend Iceman used to say, " You can be my wingman anytime."
Job well done, my friend.

My next mod is the engine cover. I will paint the factory black with red. Saw a post in here using a Honda Type R cover on eBay ~$45. I want the original look. Will post it once I am done

Thanks. Prep was the most time consuming task. I brush off the dirt with a wire brush, blasted with brake cleaner and final prep include alcohol rub down with lint free towel. Tape it all up. Painting was the easy part. I bought extra brushes. Overall I am very satisfied with it. Only a quarter of paint was used. I have enough left over for a few more cars or touch up.

They are called Caliper Covers. They come with brackets and the covers. All you need to do is remove the wheel and bolt them to the caliper with hardware that comes with it. The front ones say Acura, and the rear RDX. This is my second experience with these as I have them on my Mazdaspeed as well. I know that they offer multiple colors and different logos on them. We have dustless brake pads, so brake dust is a very small concern. There is bothering sadder to me than seeing a high-end car with almost purple break dust.....it actually ruins the finish on the wheel over time.

Those are MGP? I tried a set on another vehicle but ended up returning them. They simply would not fit.....not even close. That said, I wouldn't mind a set today, and you have not cited any installation / fit problems, so I'd be okay with giving them another shot.

All is good. I don’t notice my brakes running hotter or colder. They work, the covers still look nice. All is good.
