Trailer hitch installation.
 

Recommend trailer hitch brand, no electrical wiring required. Primarily used for a (2) bike rack. Also need installation info, looks like the rear bumper lower vinyl will have to be trimmed.

Purchase the hitch and lower trim from Acura. It is a perfect fit and doesn’t hang low like some after market hitches. You may need a new rack if you have a 2” rack, as the Acura hitch is 1 1/4”. You can get an adaptor, but I’m not a big fan of them. I sold my old 2” rack and bought a 1 1/4” that has a 2” adaptor I can use on my truck.

I have the drawtite hitch. It’s 4 bolts, pretty much plug and play. It’s a class 3 hitch. But if you have an adapter it can hold a 1 1/2 inch recover bike rack

I've heard that adding a hitch to a vehicle can affect your vehicle warranty (perhaps regarding the transmission). Is this true? Does it make a difference if I install it versus the dealer?

Installing a hitch will not void your warrantee. Acura sells them for the RDX! Makes no difference who installs it.

Looking at the pics Mattgunz posted, i can tell you the OEM hitch is a lot more hidden and doesnt stick out as much. Of course if you have the need for a 2" receiver you may need to go that route, but if you dont want it to hang down and stick out as much and only need it for a bike rack, you might want to consider OEM. It's a 2" hitch that's limited to a 1500 pound towing limit, because that's the limit for the vehicle.

Tongue weight capacity is an open question. Acura would say 150 pounds, just like the OEM hitch. And any damage to the vehicle caused by exceeding that is unlikely to be covered by warranty. Not to mention the risk of dropping the load onto the highway if the hitch attachment sites fail.

Hitch manufacturers always specify that the overall capacity is determined by the lesser of the hitch capacity and vehicle capacity. That's right out of CYA 101.

( But strangely, aftermarket hitch dealers tend to gloss over this little detail... )
