Put wipers in maintenance position?
New to forum but have reading sense August when I took delivery of my 2019 RDX AWD Advance package. Thanks to all for the information as I think everyone knows the manuals can be confusing. In the owners guide page 113 it tells how to put wipers in maintenance position. I have tried many times but have failed each time. I would like to use this position when just washing vehicle. On page 72 it talks about power mode which is part of the sequence. I would appreciate if some could maybe describe the procedure on how to do this because I am not able to get it to work.
Thanks Phil
Thanks Phil

Glad I found this. Was doing a rinseless wash tonight and went to pull the wipers up off the W/S and realized the hood was in the way. I don't remember this being described in the owner's manual, so I'll have to double check. I skimmed over that area pretty quickly not knowing the issue I was going to run into. Thanks!!

1. Set the power mode to VEHICLE OFF.
2. While holding the wiper switch in the MIST
position, set the power mode to ON, then
to VEHICLE OFF.
u Both wiper arms are set to the
maintenance position as shown in the
image.
3. Lift both wiper arms.
I'd go try both methods myself, but I just washed it so I don't want the wipers moving.

Burning Brakes
I don’t get for car wash mode, maintenance mode, stuff like this, they have these complicated procedures, just have an option in the headunit for these, also for enabling the parking brake when turning off the car, why these complicated steps that no one will remember, make an easy setting in the head unit

AGREED! To design wipers with NO hood clearance when moving from the resting position makes absolutely no sense. Having to remember such an obscure procedure makes it worse. I've owned many cars through the years & have never come across this before. What were Acura/Honda design engineers thinking?

Wow! while I've been following the manual's (OE) direction I've never been able to have them set properly right away & often must try it several times. WOW, I followed you instructions about keeping the car on & it worked right away.. thanks so much

Yours is different from the OM. Is the OM incorrect?

I haven't tried either method above but aside from cleaning and maintenance, this is also useful to raise the wipers off the windshield during an ice or snow storm. If the wipers freeze to the windshield, turning them on can do a lot of damage. Best case, is the blades get torn up. Worst case is the motor burns out or the linkage is broken.

Got it to work:
- Engine running.
- Push up the wiper stalk to the manual position. Wipers operate continuously.
- Press AND HOLD the Start/Stop button.

Not sure what's meant by "mist" vs "spray". From the off position, pulling upward cycles the wipers manually. Pulling toward you "squirts" washer fluid on the windshield and the wipers cycle at least twice to clear it off. Pretty much like every other car I've owned for the past 30 years.

”spray” is when you want the windshiels washer to spray the windshield. Pull toward yourself.

My 2013 Lexus es350 had a wiper winter mode. Just manually slide wipers up about 3" and they click into winter position. They stay in that position (all winter) and then you can slide them back down to click into regular position. Nothing easier!

What is very convenient is that YouTube has video's produced by Acura employees for most things discussed in this forum, which makes it incredibly easy to follow and do it yourself.
