Radio tuner and audio malfunction.

I lost all the Audio related option on my screen after hearing a pop. Is this same as everyone’s problem?

I was using CarPlay, suddenly heard a pop and lost audio. I went into diagnostics mode and see Audio and tuner are all in failed state. The infortament system won’t shut off after engine shut and I had to use the diagnostic mode to restart the system. After reboot, I no longer see radio icon on the home screen. Audio does not work , system Is giving me the audio unavailable error.

Yes and you may need to do the 3-finger reset twice.

omygod711 05-16-2019 12:26 PM

Yep the second time fixes it. I'm still going to dealer to get my problem on record. Thanks.

Do a FULL DATA RESET and see if that helps. It appears that all of us that have done it feel that it had a big impact on the functioning of the radio but still buggy...only Acura can fix that.

How long is fixing the Infotainment system going to take? Is it software, hardware or both. Will be interesting to see if the 2020 RDX's have updated infotainment hardware with or without updated software to learn if any of those combinations resolves the issues all of us are having.

securityguy 05-17-2019 06:54 AM

I don't believe there will be any hardware changes at all as the issues appear to be all software related. If you do a FULL DATA RESET, it takes about 10-15 minutes but well worth the time IMPO. If the 2020 come out with new software, it will not be long before the downloads start happening to the 2019. If there "is" a "fix", Acura would have already released it...we would like to think:thumbsup:

Ridiculous if it is software that these problems have been going on for so long IMHO. Other manufacturers seem to have zero issues. Also, with the RDX it is not just Apple CarPlay that has issues. I was on a road trip and thought oh, I will just use Satellite Radio and Built-in NAV but still had a couple frustrating hiccups just when I needed the NAV most. I have done the FULL DATA RESETs you describe with no improvement.

Well according to the Acura tech bulletin, my particular issue has to do with Apple car play. There’s other threads here that go into detail. I messed up and thought my issue was different. Restarting the system using dealer menu twice fixed it, it took about 5 minutes.
This issues feels like the old days with Android phones. buggy and if things crash hard you have to pull the phone battery to reset.

Android phones and apps are still extremely buggy. Just look at the number and frequency of updates being pushed out.
