About a month ago Massachusetts changed all the exit numbers on I-95, the Mass Pike, and other Interstates. Are there any fellow Massachusetts folks out there who can tell me if this update has the new numbers? If not, I may not bother, as I’m most CarPlay.

Tangible, I’m in RI, and this number changing crap is annoying haha.. I know Waze has updated numbers, I’m unsure of the factory nav.. the factory nav blows in my opinion though. Just about any specific place i voice nav to, whether it’s Kings in Dedham, Trillium in Canton, Niteowl Tattoo in Northampton or places down here it never finds them lol.. Waze all the way!
On June 29th I downloaded the latest map update, 2021.03.18, from HERE and successfully installed the update.
Last night I input an address and the navigation system reported that my maps were out-of-date! I clicked OK and the route was displayed and followed as expected.
This morning I reloaded the files onto a USB, inserted it into the car and set the car to the On position. The system booted, detected the map files and reported...
I then removed the USB, went into Recents and selected one of the addresses. It loaded fine and gave me a route.
I picked a different address in Recents and it also loaded fine.
I picked a third address and...
Okay, which is it? Are the maps out-of-date or not?
Anybody else besides me and Pearl77 seeing this? Although, Pearl77 indicated their maps were 2018.02.06 so it would seem it isn't related to the build code of the maps.
Who to contact? Dealer, Acura Customer Relations or HERE?
HERE maps are terrible to use and update. My default for routing is WAZE or GOOGLE. Life is too short to deal with the incompetence of the ACURA mapping. I am sure HERE is the low bidder 😕
Agree to the naysayers...wish I could help. At one point I was enthused to see updates to the nav..probably hoping more that the drab look of the maps (blue and gray anyone?) would be wowed up a little, but skipping the last update because I don't care anymore because I don't use the Acura map/nav pretty much ever. The only benefit I have seen to it, and it has taken me almost 3 years to figure this out, is that on my 2019 ASpec when you do use the factory nav, and go to the nav setting on that little screen between speedo/tach, that a barebones directional display will show up. Sorta like getting the HUD that so many seem to like from the Advance model...just down several inches. Hope you get this figured out on the out-of-date thing. I t seems like people have mentioned this in past posts/year so maybe there is an answer somewhere in this blog.

I get the same message after updating to the 2021.03.18 version. Since the message doesn't occur with every destination, I have just been clicking OK and continuing.
I planned to keep my eyes on this form to see if anyone else would report the problem, and you did, so thank you. At least I know now that I don't have a faulty installation, and I suppose it is just a sit and wait strategy.
For those who have the out-of-date warning with the new map, the temp workaround is to disable the "Connected" feature of the navigation app. So something on the server side is causing the issue.
I just got this message about "out of date" maps. I had never seen it before. Worse, I went to the update site and followed the download steps. Things went to hell from there. The download so super slow...I mean it ran for TWO DAYS and still was only half way there. I finally pulled the memory stick and went to another computer that was "clean" and wired (not wirelessly connected) to my router. It started running quicker but still...TWO DAYS to write to a memory stick! Really??
Now I am looking closer at settings on the car after reading this comment about this being a server problem not a map issue. We all know Honda had their network hit hard some months back and had to redo a lot of stuff. I suspect the problem is more with their system than with our cars.
I have also received the error message stating that my database is out of date even though I did update to the newest version (2021-03-18). After several phone calls to Navi and my Acura dealer, I took the car to the dealer yesterday. At this point, the local dealer is talking to the national Acura tech line for support as they "haven't seen this issue before". They have downloaded data from my car and sent it for analysis.
I'll post back when I get a resolution but if I have to guess, it appears to be a software defect. Now, who's software? I don't know. Navi does the maps but Acura does the integration. Not sure where the issue is at this point. Based on the other posts in this thread, it appears to have been an issue for some time.
No problems here. Downloaded and installed version 2021-03-18. Download took about 45 mins (about the same as previous version) and install...I don't know, didn't keep track of time. Also did not get "out of date" message.
The dealer spoke to the engineers at Acura. The map error problem is a known issue that requires a code update. Acura says the code update will be out in 30-45 days. This update would be to the nav system, not the maps. They did not know at this time whether the update will be able to be pushed remotely or if the vehicle would need to be brought back in. I guess it depends on how complex the fix and the size of the code package.

The “out of date” message appears after you enter a destination address. You’ll have to do that test to confirm.

We recently completed a road trip that included a few days in Massachusetts and the new maps still reference the old exit numbers.

I live in Massachusetts. I'm old and set in my ways and think the new numbers based on mile markers is ridiculous (yes the old numbers will be there for 2 years). What was wrong with exit numbers going sequentially from 1 to 2 to 3 etc., where now they go from 41 to 49 to 60 etc. Geez!

The mile marker way is simply better since it provides actual information.

The main problem with sequential numbering, is that sooner or later new exits are being added. Wouldn't that mean that the exit #50 that you always took for years is now exit #51. That would also mean updating all the paper maps with the new numbers, and nowadays all the GPS manufacturers would have to issue new maps. If you use mile markers, the exit numbers that you have become familiar with will never change in the future.
Using mile markers also makes it very easy to estimate how far your exit is by simply looking at the current mile marker at the side of the road. Before the invention of GPS it would have been difficult to know that exit #50 was just around the the next curve and people were more likely to miss their exits because they were in the wrong lane etc.
And I'm within a few year of your age as well (old).

2021 RDX A-Spec AWD
Thanks Nathan. Any additional update on this? I also get the same error.
I know this is a wrong place to reply; I am new to this community and would like to know if there is a thread for 2021 Acura RDX purchases? I am part of Honda 10th Generation and people there post their out the door prices so that everyone has an idea of where to find the best deal.

Entered RDX into the search bar, responds with a variety of years and clicked on 2019 (have a 2019 A-Spec)
Response is- Our records indicate that the map that you have in your navigation system is our most recent release.
I used to have to enter the map version I currently have at some point (which is 2021.01.08) to get to a point to determine if i have the most current map - which I guess is now 2021.03.18. Not sure how it is just responding that I have the most current, which appears that it is not, when I have not even entered what I have. Not terribly concerned that I have the most current, but was bored and thought I would update. Any idea if acuranavi.navigation is the wrong place or I am doing something wrong?
Looks like the server-side issue has been fixed, as I have not seen the map-out-of-date warning for a few days. The long wait for routing to be completed is also gone.
I can't get the mapu updated in my 2019 RDX that I just purchased in June, preowned. The map website's chat help is down, and when you call their number during "open" hours, a recording tells you to visit your nearest dealership. Well I've been there 3 times, including this morning. The service guy said the car has to be running 4 HOURS, continuously, to complete the update! Clearly that's not other people's experience, but what to do when the dealership and the online map support are unavailable?
I haven't had any success in uploading the files I've downloaded onto my USB drive. I've tried it twice to no avail. Unless I'm doing something wrong, like not waiting long enough or doing it out of sequence, I can't figure out why it isn't uploading onto the navigation unit.

It just seems like nothing happens when I insert the USB drive and turn the vehicle on.
These maps ain’t worth a sh!t anyway, and only serve as a rolling map. If you need to actually navigate somewhere, Google, Waze, or Apple Maps is your best bet.
Checked to see if there is a map update today and was surprised to find one because I usually wait until somebody posts the update here.
There is also an updated downloader program that seems a bit faster.
Downloaded version 2021.08.04.
catbert430...thanks for posting. It still amazes me that, however many map updates there has been, there have been no notifications from Acura about these. If not for Acurazine, and people like you, these updates would be unknown (assuming no-one has been notified---I have not). It probably surprises me as much that the maps are not just updated OTA like my phone does for it's maps.
Like others have mentioned in the past, I know longer update the cars maps only because the app maps are so much better (my opinion)...which lately Apple maps has been my go-to. I guess if someone gets one of Acuras map updates and has some complelling thing to report about them that has been added/changed, I might in that case revisit doing the upload. But thanks again for the heads-up.
Acura used to harass us with map updates when they were on CD and they wanted us to buy them for $149 or blue-light special at $99 but, with the no-cost here! updates (IMHO, here! is a sh*t-show), they are completely silent.
Instead, they devote themselves to endless surveys where they want you to say that you love your Acura and will buy another one and will recommend Acura to everybody you know.
I have been trying to update Navigation in 2020 RDX for 2 months. I have asked the service dept at the dealership for help (no help), have emailed HERE Technologies several times (emails were little help), called HERE Technologies several times (all they can do is read the directions on the website).
I have installed the Map Downloader to my computer.
I have installed the HERE maps to a 32GB FAT32 USB drive -- don't use an EXFAT USB drive. (Ask me how I know.) It has to be a FAT32.
The installation starts with a message on the screen: Updating navigation map . . .
The car was running for 40 minutes. I turned the engine off and did some shopping. When I turned the car back on, no message about an update. Also no change in the Map Verson (2019.07.08)
Am I the only one with this problem? Any suggestins?
Thanks
Judy
It’s been my experience, and I believe I’ve seen others confirm, that it takes 50-60 minutes for the update. If you stop part way through, it restarts from the beginning.

At this point, I would gladly pay $99 for the map update that would come loaded on USB and include complete directions.

Thanks for that information. I will try again when I plan to be in the car for 2 hours. That El be my Last Chance.

I recently figured out that it'll tell you when it's done. Give it at least an hour. I don't think forty minutes is long enough. Go on a long drive or something. It may seem like it isn't doing anything, but it is. When it says the update is finished, stop the vehicle, turn off the ignition, and then restart it. When you look at the version, it should be newer.
RDX Map update - information from Here Technologies Support
Hello everyone. Having the same problem with getting the downloaded map update from my flash drive to install in my 2019 RDX. I pinged the customer support link in the Acura email I originally received about the update being available, and got a response from a company called Here Technologies. They had some specific recommendations that I can share as a quote from their message to me: "Note: It is recommend that you use a USB that is a 2.0. We advise on using any brand of USB except SandDisk & PNY. Lastly it is also recommended to use a 32 GB drive 64 GB max." I wrote back to them to confirm that they did indeed recommend a 2.0 drive versus the 3.0 that the Acura Map Update site recommended. They confirmed that 2.0 is the protocol to choose. I had purchased a Sandisk 3.0 32 GB drive specifically for this update, and so this could have been the problem. Just purchased a different brand 2.0 drive and will try again this weekend. Will post what happens.
