Anyone else having an issue downloading the new map update?? I keep getting errors saying to check my network connection. And obviously I have 1 Gbps fiber internet that is working fine. I've emailed the company that hosts it, HERE and have yet to get a reply beyond the automated one. Anyone else seen this? I've tried multiple USB drives, different browsers, restated my router. Everything I can think of and still it will not download.
I get the "Updating navigation map..." message when I connect the USB drive, but about a minute later I get the message "Map update stopped. Re-connect the USB drive with the update files to start the process again." I reconnect and get the same thing.
Anyone else have this problem?
I'm having a similar issue today. 32GB USB 2.0 FAT32 formatted drive. The file structure gets put on the drive, but then I get a "network error". Tried several times, hours apart. Reformatted drive. still not working. Reinstalled map downloader software. Same issue.

I think our posts crossed each other, just seeing yours. Yes, I have also been having the same error, and also tried a different USB drive and different browsers. Must be an issue on HERE's end, and I feel better knowing it's not just me. I also contacted HERE.

Well going on 3 days and still no luck. Same network error issue. I've emailed them and no response. I think It's time to spam them continuously until they get tired of it and fix it.

They told someone who contacted HERE/Nokia whatever maps over on the Facebook Group Acura RDX Generation 3 that it could be weeks before they get it working again or something to that affect:

The members of the Gen 3 RDX Facebook group are so clueless and/or full of shit that I had to unsubscribe to avoid the stupidity.
Question, when uploading the map to the RDX does it have to be done all at once or can the car be turned off during install and it will just restart?
The posted instructions do not mention anything on this...
"Map Installation Guide: While the vehicle is stationary, plug the USB flash drive containing the download into the navigation system. Note: The engine does not need to be running. The navigation system will detect new maps and display a notification. Note: The Map Update will be detected in any mode, Navigation does not need to be activated. You can continue to use the vehicle while the map is installing. A notification will show the 'Map update is complete. Update will take effect after vehicle restarts.' Click OK. Remove the USB flash drive."

Downloaded the new map onto a 32GB 3.0 FAT32 thumb and installed onto my two week old '21 RDX A-Spec. As others have said, I think it was about 14GB; About 40min down and 45min to install. Keyed on to accessory mode and left it there until Map Update Complete.
New Map upload did not take in my 2019 RDX Advance
I wish my 1st new map update went so well for my 2019 RDX which I bought in Aug. 2018 but no such luck. Bought a new 32GB 3.0 flash. (my computer takes the SS 3.0)
1st Step: Installed the downloader to my computer.
2nd Step: After that it took about 50 minutes to download the North American maps to the flash drive, I plug Flash into the center console & when I went into navigation it said it was installing maps. I drove around about 30 minutes (I recall seeing that others said it took them 20 minutes for the maps to load to the car) but nothing obvious came up saying the maps were installed. But when I went back into navi it no longer said installing, so I assumed it took. I turned of the car & restarted it still showed the version was still from February 2018.
What I'm I missing? BTW I see no size of any files on the flash drive. Should there be? Anyone who has successfully updated the maps provide any suggestions or pointers? If not I guess my next step is to set up an appt with Acura to deal with it.
I installed the map update using a 32GB FAT32 formatted USB 3.0 flash drive. No problems. USB 3.0 flash drives are backward compatible with USB 2.0. It took about 40 minutes to install the update.
I realize that but when you read the system requirements for downloading it sates using a 2.0 usb flash drive (16 or 32 gb forgot which size) formatted to fat 32 for downloading and installing. I tried to use a 3.0 on the previous map version and it didn’t work and others have reported problems with 3.0. When they switched to a 2.0 it worked fine. Hey if 3.0 works go for it but if not try a 2.0.

First of all, there should be files on your flash drive. So if there aren't any, then the problem is at the "download update" step, not at the "load update onto car" step. But I'm dubious that there were no files, since the car would not have tried to perform an update if you just plugged a blank flash drive in. So assuming there are files on your flash drive and you were mistaken, it takes longer than 20-30 minutes to perform the transfer. It usually takes about an hour. If your flash drive isn't flashing a light (if it has a light) then it isn't doing anything and you can wait forever. Try to force an update to start again via the map app. If not, then go back to try re-downloading the update fresh. The map app will not continuously state that the update is occurring or give any indication that it is in progress, other than an initial notification, so you also need to be patient.
Download from 32 GB 3.0 flash drive finally worked.Rather than driving around no place for about an hour this time I tried using accessory mode only like some have suggested. After waited for existing map to load I plug the flash drive in to center console. Navi began stating loading.
When I checked back in an hour the instrument panel was off. I used accessory mode again, went into Navi /help & the new 2020.10.09 version was showing. Happy camper now.
Have not seen any clear changes yet but at least I did not pay $150 for the update like I did in my 2014 RDX & was sorry I paid for it, expecting corrections at least to many of the locations.

Has anyone seen MAJOR CHANGES after updating to the new HERE 2020.10.09 Map version?
Were searchable locations added or names corrected in the directory?
I'm not driving that much these days but in the short drives taken since downloaded to Navi, I have not seen any obvious difference,
I suppose the actual road map in some areas would have at least changed as compared to the February 2018 version that came with the 2019 RDX
A little late to the party, but successfully downloaded the map update to USB 3.0 thumb drive - it took close to 45 minutes.
Started my 2019 RDX, unplugged my music USB and plugged in the map update USB. Went to Navigation and got a brief message that the map was updating.
Drove around for 45 minutes during which time all navigation functions worked fine. Got home, left car running, and switched out of navigation and then back into it.
Still said "map updating". Did a few things around the garage for 15 minutes and then checked again. Got the "Update Complete" message. So it took somewhere between 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
Shut the car off, restarted it, and checked navigation system menu - help and it correctly showed the new map installed.
Start the car, wait until it boots, then stick the stick in the console. It should briefly say it is uploading, but that message goes away. If your stick flashes when it reads or writes, it will do that.
I have a 2019 RDX with the original map and when I go to the link provided in one of the threads to an Acura site it says that I have to pay for the map update. I do not subscribe to Acura link. Do you know if a charge for download is the norm. The info screen does not show any pending updates.
Today, Started the update with a 2.0 32gb, 2 hours and still updating. Is there something i am not doing correctly? When i restart the Nav, message states updating.

So after 4 hours to download the maps, I pushed the start button 2x to get to accessory mode., put the stick in and update started. But there is some kind of noise from under the hood. Maybe fuel pump? Anyone do this without driving aimlessly for an hour? I wonder if the battery will be okay and what is running under the hood.
Glad I found this thread. I have a 2019 Advance and while on a recent trip started to get messages that my map was out of date (2018.02.06). Read the map update instructions and started the down load following the procedures. Seemed to take forever - did not measure the time, but many hours. Finally, inserted the thumbdrive into the proper USB in the car and got a message that the update had started. Again, incredibly slow process which never finished. Had to take the car to the dealer for service so asked if they would do it (thinking that maybe there was something beyond the instructions that I did not know). Answer was yes, they would try, IF I brought in my thumb drive. Decided to try again myself with a new thumb drive (3.0) and again, an incredibly slow process, which is still underway as I write this. Given all of the other comments above which reflect similar issues, my thoughts are that Acura made this much harder than it needed to be. Anyway, if this current effort doesn't work, I will take it to the dealer.

It took me two tries as well because I had to stop the engine and turn off the download before it was complete. The second time, I planned a longer trip to complete more errands and it finally finished in 55 minutes. Keep in mind this is a big file (over 16GB) and the system must integrate the new without affecting any of your setups/profiles.
Follow up to my rant about slow download times. FINALLY, after 10 hours, I got the whole map downloaded. Then, it took about 50 minutes to download from thumb drive into the car - successful - version 21-01-08. My take is that this is not about the car, but about the third party that Acura uses to handle their map updates. They seem to have very inadequate server capacity, so that when responding to numerous simultaneous requests for updates, they simply cannot handle it and dole out the updates at near dial-up speeds. For a big file, this is going to take some time. Acura needs to get them to improve this service.
