Nav doesn't zoom back out after turn

I noticed that when using the RDX nav for actual navigation to a destination it doesn't zoom back after zooming in. For example, I'll set the distance scale to 1 mile to start. As I get close to a turn it zooms in to 1000 feet so I can see the detail of the turn. That's good. But after the turn it doesn't scale back to the original 1 mile setting. It stays at 1000 feet and then I have to manually reset to 1 mile. It has zoomed back on rare occasions, but mostly it does not. Has anyone else noticed this and is there something I'm missing here?. Thanks.

The nav app is really bad when it comes to zoom. Before the first software update came out, you weren't even able to zoom at all (you could only zoom on explore mode).
I would like the zoom setting to persist after turning off the car, and after navigation directions like you're talking about.
The programmers who made this nav really don't want you to control your zoom. I don't know what they were thinking.

You are not missing anything. The nav app stinks. Sometimes it zooms in and out, true. But as a navigation aid, I almost never use it. When I actually have to navigate someplace through traffic, it is Carplay for me. The Acura nav is no more than a rolling map with inconsistent and inaccurate traffic info.

I’m probably in denial that a system in a so called luxury vehicle can be this second-rate and inferior when navs have been common place to the public for at least 20 years. The previous generation RDX nav was much better with the exception of voice recognition. Whoever thought scratching out letters on the track pad to find a destination was a good idea should be questioned in my opinion. Granted this latest system version is a huge improvement on the original iteration (we now have ability to zoom without going into explore mode and the vehicle identifier stays on the screen), but that’s not saying much. Real time traffic is still the pits. I have used carplay, but I have limited data in my plan and darned this nav should be usable for what I paid for the car.
