Dynamic mode animations
Hi
so I was watching a random video on YouTube for a 2021 Acura RDX aspec and noticed that the car had moving animations when changing dynamic modes. My 2020 doesn’t have this and I’m on the most recent software update. Curious, Is this something that only 2021s got?
link to video. Starts at 8:15 when it shows.
thanks

BTW, the answer to the video is no, the RDX is not just a glorified CR-V. (BTW, it doesn't seem like that guy even answered that question in his video.)

Those moving animations are part of the new infotainment software 1.4.3. There is a discussion in another thread and none of us are certain if the 19-20 RDX’s will receive the 1.4.3 update. It looks as if the newer production 2021 models are coming with this 1.4.3 software already.

Hardware looks the same, so 19-20 should be able to get it.
I think its either because Acura does not want to push big update to many cars at once (in case there are issues its easier to deal with smaller set of people) or they have technical difficulties updating 1.2.2 to 1.4.x
its different when you burn new image at factory with 1.4.x vs making sure update actually
works.
maybe it has to do with with an issue that some could not upgrade from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2, its possible that they need to solve it first

this is interesting. So what version do you have? Do you have spinny graphics when you twist the knob? So if you are running on our older 1.2.2 , then your h/w is just like the 2019/20. And you should get updated. I think that is the best sign I have yet to hear. Ask the dealer if they can update you and please report back to us how they plan on updating you (over air maybe?) . If you have to bring it in, then maybe that’s what the rest of us should do.....
thank you.
thank you.
all this points more towards technical problem Acura is trying to resolve which prevents OTA software update. Factory image works, but update has problems. Just my theory 😀

I read on an RDX Facebook forum that there was an update to the RDX infotainment. He posted a pic of the update version 1.5.1.
I went ahead and checked the car and there was an update and so i downloaded and installled. i can confirm it updated to the 1.5.1!! It has the animations now along with other updates/fixes as well! Pic attached of what he posted!

My 2020 RDX auto updated itself this afternoon to version 1.5.1. Upon the subsequent start the screen told me the update was successful and I can confirm I have drive mode animations.

I’ve usually found the system faster after completely rebooting and then slowing down, over time, as it gets overwhelmed and clogged up.
The system did boot up quickly and the USB music started without “initializing” for a change.
