My daughter told me her friend was looking for a car. “What kind?” I asked. “Purple” she said. I said, “I mean what type of car?” My daughter said, “she wants a purple one and doesn’t care what it is.”

what can one say about people’s automotive choices?

Performance oriented hybrids is what Acura has said they want to focus on when it comes to alternative powertrains - eg. the RLX and MDX hybrids are both better performing cars than their regular gas-only siblings. Either of those drivetrains in the RDX would net another 5mpg or so but be faster with minimal impact to weight so it's a win-win for any enthusiast. With a bit of tuning it might even be fast enough to be a Type S (I doubt it) but maybe Acura makes their A-Spec trim the hybrid trim - slightly more performance than the base drivetrain. That or they find another letter in the alphabet to use to promote the performance aspect of their hybrids. I think it's a nice little niche for them to try to carve out since they are already going in that direction.
