I really wish the Advance had better side (360) cameras. I don't know why they cheaped out so badly on them. I would gladly have paid the extra few dollars for them to be better.

I agree with you on the cameras. My sister-in-law's BMW has a much better looking "bird's eye view". I also like some aspects of her GPS but when she paid a major sum to have it update its maps it wasn't so attractive any more.
I would have spent a little more on a better GPS, maybe a little bigger screen.

I have zero issues with build quality on my '19 Advance. As for road noise...that can be a complex and expensive fix but I think everyone likes their vehicle to be as quiet as possible. I would spend a little more for a quieter vehicle, but not too muck. I don't want to get to the point where I feel isolated from the outside world.

More sound deadening, more power (actually to the wheels, not just in the brochure), a fully digital dash would be nice, and LED rear turn signals.

Errr...did I just describe an X3, GLC, or Q5?

RDX Base and tech have great backup camera. Advance with 360 is terrible. So embarrassing

1. A PHEV option.

2. More modern interior design, especially with respect to the dash and center stack. I get that the RDX interior is ripped from the NSX and it's fine, but the swooping dash lines and huge center stack are bygone design cues. Heck, even the climate control LCD and buttons looks ripped from a 1995 Honda - wtf is up with that?

3, A touch pad that doesn't wiggle so cheaply.

I have a Canadian A-Spec and would have gladly paid for the extra stuff the Platinum Elite/Advance had: 360 camera, hands free tailgate, and adaptive dampers.

It seems, in Canada, that A-Specs are the majority of sales but it's only one of 5 trim levels and I hope Acura repackages to: Base, Tech, Tech+A-Spec, Platinum Elite, Platinum Elite+A-Spec

Well you just described my Nautilus. And although it doesn't handle the corners quite like an RDX, it will get to those corners a lot quicker.

I wouldn't "gladly" pay more for anything.

Power folding mirrors should have been included in my Advance. And after 3 model years, the fact that they're still not available, when the Canadian models have had them from day one and they've been available on previous generations, is an insult to us in the US.

This is the one feature that was a genuine head-scratcher for me; I just assumed it would be standard based on every whiz-bang feature on the Advance; the puzzled look on my face when I was informed "No" must have been priceless. Truly disappointed.

My condo has a joke of a parking spot. God bless power folding mirrors. No clue the why niche market canadians get it.

I was set to get a RDX Advance to replace my 08 RDX tech. The road noise was a big turn off and I just couldn't get past that. The second issue was how rough the Auto Stop-Start was and having to always disable it at start-up. End up going for a CPO 18 RLX hybrid with 7k miles for less $$$ that didn't have either of those issues.

For what its worth, I can hardly tell when my car shuts and restarts with the auto stop. I also always disable it because its a stupid feature IMO, but for the times I forget, its pretty smooth and quiet.

What I'd gladly pay more for are nicer looking brakes. The Brembos from the Civic Type R would have been perfect as an A-Spec option.

Agreed. I despise the "feature," but it's quite honestly the smoothest auto-stop-start I've ever experienced. I love how barely have to let up on the brake to start it so that you're ready to go when the light turns green.

No way I'm ripping apart my center console to disable the Auto Start/Stop.

I'd pay more if the Advance didn't have that giant lag when coming to a stop. You have to come to a complete stop and then pause and then you can accelerate like normal. It's my one real complaint about the car. I don't care about folding mirrors and I'm not sure why people dump on the 360 camera so much. Maybe I have low expectations for the camera since this is the first car I've owned with a 360 camera, but it shows me the curb and the cars around me, which is what it's there for. Are people using their 360 cameras to watch wildlife, like squirrels or something?

1) Overall build quality
2) Power folding mirrors
3) Rear cooled seats
4) A custom mode for the drive modes
5) Voice recognition and navigation are worse than my 2016 Subaru Legacy, which was not that good for 2016

Yeah, I agree the navigation is pretty poor. I'm not sure how the nav system calculates routes, but it takes you all over the place. Once, it even took me down a logging road and I was basically off-roading on a mountain. I did that for half an hour before I realized it was only going to get worse and I turned around. Even when I'm in a relatively populated area, it will always take you on bizarre routes. Like instead of going down a major road and making one turn and going down one other road to your destination, it took me on fifteen turns where I had to stop at every intersection and hit five lights. It's just bad.

This again, was another head-scratcher for me concerning Navi algorithms. I mean, I'm old enough to remember when the word "Acura" stood for precision, derived from Latin - meaning mechanically precise. Somehow, amongst the crap ton of trigonometry these engineers performed, they missed a memo that said "make it easier to navigate a country road."

In terms of highway and city, Navi is fine. However, get on a country road and all bets are off, at least this has been my limited experience with my RDX Navi. My old-school navigation on my 2004 TSX is actually better and I did an experiment last week when I had to go see a friend in the country. Two weeks ago I took the RDX, and along country roads it was intending to take me literally 50 miles outside of where I wanted to go. The next trip last week I drove my TSX and its navigation sent me in the most direct, efficient and correct route.

So now, I find myself adapting my behavior to accommodate the technology and it's not a good feeling of trust. In other words, if I'm on a country road now, I feel the need to either drive my TSX or just use my Apple Map app on my phone via CarPlay in the RDX. I haven't drilled down into the Navi settings yet so perhaps there will be an answer there? Hope springs eternal.

In general, I think car companies are (smartly) no longer investing much in navigation system development due to the emergence of ACP/AA. So that's why its crappy 2016 quality. Within 5 years, I suspect that off-line maps will be be an exclusive option for the off-road SUV genre, and that's it. I say good riddance - stock nav systems have always been trash.

I agree. I hate the auto stop/start on my RDX with a passion, but I’m not going to spend $80 and rip apart the dash to do what can be accomplished by pressing a button.

The auto stop/start on this vehicle is close to dangerous. If I come to a very brief stop, like at a stop sign where no one is coming, and immediately give it the gas, it isn’t ready to go. I find a big delay in how long it takes the car to restart. My F150 starts immediately and I never turn it off on the truck, where I always turn it off on the RDX.

I don’t see what's dangerous about it. And I don't have the delay you're talking about. In the time it normally takes me to move my foot from the brake to the gas pedal, the engine starts and is up to idle RPM and I just go. Of course, I don't sit at a light watching it like a Christmas tree ready to punch it off the line. That could be dangerous.

I agree driving habits reflect personality. When I come to a steady anticipated stop, the Start / Stop does not activate. Depressing fully on the brake it activates the engine stop. It restarts immediately without hesitation.

I’m not driving it like a funny car, it’s just normal driving. When I come to a very brief stop like described then immediately give it the gas is when I really notice it. I’ve given it the gas before and the car hasn’t started yet.

The features are pretty decent for this price range, but here are my picks for improving the RDX Advance:
  • Double-wishbone suspension
  • Power folding mirrors
  • Power telescoping steering wheel
  • Regular moon roof instead of the panoramic
  • Micron air filter with activated charcoal
  • Hard disk or other internal storage in the TTI system
  • Wood trim and kick plates in the rear doors to match the front
  • Puddle lights with the Acura logo
  • Multi-touch screen
  • Spare tire included

You know, when I was shopping, I was surprised the the RDX didn't have a power telescoping steering wheel. BUT, I am the driver 99.9% of the time, so why do I need it?
Power folding mirrors... Some are passionate about this missing feature. I don't see the need.
I enjoy the pano moon roof. (If it shatters, I will change my opinion, but I have had them on several cars without any drama.
Puddle lights would have been a nice "upscale" feature, but I think they can be added with relative ease. (Sometimes I think they are tacky)
Spare tire. I knew it didn't come with one (Advance FWD) but didn't know it was included on some trims, or that it was easy to add, or I would have negotiated it in with the deal. I never feel that I must have one.

Double wishbone suspension? I get that your user name is that, but I am not knowledgeable enough on different suspension designs (or the reason for your username) to know what the benefits are...

I would/might pay extra to have had the Blind Spot indicator lights in the outside mirrors where they are much easier to see.
I also would have liked more control in the drive mode selections.

Other than that, I agree that the feature content is excellent.

Quick Reply: What would you have gladly paid a little more for the RDX to have?
