I had my TLX and was considering a 19 A-Spec TLX, but went with the RDX because it’s a better overall vehicle, plus I’m a home owner now and realized that I couldn’t fit a lot of stuff in my TLX when buying things for the house.

Times are a changing

Personally, Acura has always been hot and miss for me. Some of their cars I always like: ‘95 Legend, ‘04 TL and TSX, ‘01 MDX and all NSX.

But some, like the current models other than the RDX are not on my radar in their respective class.

But, I do think we are about to see an resurgence in Acura. Their corporate and dealership leadership are really raving about what is on tap for Acura.

I would love to be able to step into a R-Type Hybrid RDX sooner than later.

The title of this poll should be, “what age of people own and post on Internet forums about their 3G RDX” - It’s hard for any of us to say for sure, heck what is this forum for mostly other than opinions, but do you think this poll represents a similar distribution to the data from actual sales?

In my opinion this distribution is missing a few in the under 20 bucket. Typically with this topic for Acura models, there are always a few high school or college kids where their parents bought them a new car. Maybe those parents have posted here as their own age, but from what I’ve seen “those” parents aren’t posting about cars on the internet, or they’re too busy on the Land Rover, Porsche, or Maserati sites.

I'm also surprised at the spike over 60 relative to the two buckets younger and book-ended by the 30-39 crowd, maybe representing more time to play on the internet after retirement crossed with its easier to get in and out of an SUV age? As for me, in the 30-39 bucket, my young child just woke me up, can’t fall back to sleep so I peruse the internet on car forums, in bed on a tablet. I fell asleep doing the same thing at bedtime...probably not healthy.

I find human socio-economic behavior crossed with groupings of ages fascinating, and believe me Acura does their homework around that for each vehicle model to get their target audience.

As a recently retired person who drove a 2004 TL into the ground commuting, running errands, and on road trips, it was time to start fresh with a vehicle that would not have to endure the commuting miles and last for awhile. Three features I was focused on compared to the older TL were a higher vehicle to make it easier to get in and out of, safety features as I become more sensory challenged, and cargo space that I could slide packages in and out of without having to lift out of a sedan trunk. These features tend to be elderly friendly. All of the other goodies, including the infotainment system now that the updates are improving its reliability and usability are bonuses. So far so good. But I think this vehicle does appeal across a broad age spectrum from young families up to seniors.

I feel more comfortable driving my 19 RDX A-SPEC @ 32yo rather than the 16 MDX that I drove around for the last 3 years, which I got when I was 29...felt like an old man...and I never once used the 3rd row seats.

I made bad purchases

Got a 2012 mercedes benz c class at age 25 brand new, then bought a 2014 BMW 335i at age 27 brand new, worst financial decisions I've ever made. Then went on to a civic SI, got bored and sick of manual still in age 27. Then age 29, got an 2016 acura ILX. Then life hit me at age 31. Now I'm 33 years old, got married at 32, now baby on the way, decided to step it up to the 2019 RDX aspec SHAWD!

Got my first Acura Legend at age 32 (drive as is for 13 years) , then a TL-S at 47 (added headers, cold air intake, Ron Jon wheels), now an RDX Aspec at 62 (revering back to as is)

All Great cars, got over 210,000 on each one.

FWIW, apparently owners of compact SUVs have an average age of 56, and the CRV is 60. I'd expect the RDX to be right around there, which makes sense given who I see driving around in them around these parts.

Picked this up last week after my BMW started to flake up. I loved owning a BMW (Had 3) but not worth paying too much money in repairs anymore. I felt this was a good compromise between fun and functional for me.

New RDX buyers are younger, more diverse, more highly educated and more affluent than those who purchased the previous generation model

The RDX A-Spec is hitting its mark and attracting younger buyers – RDX A-Spec has double the number of under-45-year-olds than the rest of the RDX line

When I bought the car I was 48, now I'm 50. Should I change my vote?

Edit: Doesn't look like I can change my vote, so moot point.
