I think that white spot is a rock chip...I guess OP doesn't realize any car can get a stone chip lol.

Think of it this way, you got your first chip/dent/scratch out of the way! Not too expensive to repair.

not too expensive! One place said at least $800. Would have to repaint whole hood. Even fixing the dent was going to be a costly job.

it’s not just a chip. It’s a gouge.
I just hate it when it’s something in the hood. I like a nice clean hood.
