Touchpad Question
I currently have an Audi Q3 but was looking for something a little larger and more comfortable. I have a 2022 RDX ordered. Ideally I wish the RDX had the Infotainment touch screen system like the Audi Q3 or Q5. I’ve had older RDXs and liked them but they didn’t have the touchpad. I am debating between the Audi Q5 and the RDX and am leaning towards the RDX. It may come down to who will give me the better trade-in. But another consideration is what do people think of the touchpad system that have had it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Some think the touch pad is the work of the Devil himself.Others, like myself, find it to work just fine. But, I HATE touch screens where you have to try to steady your hand and not touch the wrong spot. On my touch pad I have a hand rest that steadies my hand and makes it easier for me to hit where I want.
In the end everyone is different. Some people find "change" to be difficult and want everything the way they use to and avoid and dislike new and different. So, its a personal thing but with so many factors vastly more important than if a car has a touch screen or a wheel or a joy stick or a touch pad I personally would never make a major decision on what vehicle to buy based on what some stranger on the internet advised me. Go look at the whole car and see what suits you best.

Get the Audi. I’ve had my RDX for 600 miles and have had nothing but issues. Rear gate noise, pulling to the left, brakes that are louder than my race brakes, water leaking in causing the locks to go bananas and can’t lock it, lights flicker, and dash keeps dinging that a doors open, blind spot monitoring malfunction. Condensation on interior windshield. The touch pad works fine though. Do yourself a favor, buy German. Fuck the RDX. Oh yeah and went into limp mode on way to work this morning.

Thanks for your thoughts - remote start and good cargo space are certainly in the RDX’s favor. Although I like Audi’s MMI system, I’m sure I could get used to something different. I do like Audi’s MMI system built into the dash instead of looking like an iPad on its side but I can probably get used to it.

Drifting
I quickly got used to the tru-touch pad, and after setting everything up, I rarely needed to use it, but when I did it was easy. The steering wheel buttons really make it a non-issue most of the time. EXCEPT when using Android Auto or CarPlay, then the tru-touch pad works differently, like a mouse pad on a laptop.
Our '19 RDX was rear ended, and was replaced with a '21 Lincoln Corsair, with a touch screen, that I find a bit easier.
Everyone is different.

TouchPad is fine by me ... sit in one and fiddle with it for a few minutes. You'll know pretty quickly whether or not you like the system. Just do some research on how it works, and remember that once you start using AA/ACP, it starts acting like a mouse cursor (why, Acura?).
Overall, my car has poor interior build quality, though not to the extent as RiotfunK. 2020 A-Spec with 18k miles, issues of rattles-a-plenty and other NVH issues since 3k miles.

Touchpad not gloves friendly
In my limited experience (just got below 30*F this weekend) unless you have capacitive gloves, the touchpad won't recognize your gloved finger. Just food for thought/consideration when comparing the two.

fyi there’s a sensitivity option in the settings, have you adjusted it?
