Took Advantage Of The Warm Weather Today

Since it was in the mid 50s today I took advantage of it and did a few things to the RDX. I installed my Yellow Lamin-X on the fog lights, removed my front license plate, plugged the holes and painted my exhaust tips. I never could understand why they didn’t install black ones from the factory? Everything else on the A-Spec is blacked out. I used bbq grill paint that I had laying around which was flat black, I really would’ve preferred glossy black but still looks much better than the chrome. I also received my Eibach lowering springs last week just waiting for the roads to clear up before I have them installed.

Q: May I ask what type of plugs you used to cover your front license plate holes? Please advise. Thank you.

I have used bumper plugs before with great results.

I use this push pin. I just pulled the top portion off and did have to clip some of it off and painted it with my touchup pen and pushed it in the hole. I am still on the look for something a little bit better. The head of it is a little too thick for my taste. The reason I stuck with this one I didn’t have to drill the hole bigger in my front bumper, just in case I need to put my tag bracket back on.

01CL-TypeS,

Thanks for sharing your mod to cover your front license plate holes. Like you, I feel Bumper Plugs are too expensive. I didn't want to drill larger holes in my front bumper as well. I made my own front license plate hole mod:

Back in 10/2018, I posted this alternative to Bumper Plugs in this thread: License plate bumper holes

After researching the www for options, I decided to make my own bumper plugs for my 2019 Acura RDX. I used Hillman Variable Depth Push Fasteners for GM which can be purchased at Lowe's. Cost: $ .72 + Tax. I sanded and sprayed the fasteners with White Gloss Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X spray paint from Home Depot. Cost: $3.87 + Tax. The diameter of the fasteners was a little larger than the original license plate holes, so I trimmed them down with a razor blade to fit. The idea is I did not want to enlarge the original license plate holes so that I could reinstall my front license plate for the annual Safety Check. Mission Accomplished! Total Cost: Priceless.

Thanks... I'm looking to find the smallest head to just cover the hole.

I've never used it on a car but I used to use it all the time on my boat.
After fishing in the ocean I would use it to flush the boat motor and rinse off the trailer. I thought it worked well for that.
