Looks good! Practically speaking with a family and kids, what could you load in there and how much?

Have you taken it out on the road yet? I have the Yakima Rocketbox 14 for several years. Didn't really notice a dip in mpgs; but, cross winds or passing semi trucks can rock the vehicle more than expected (speed limit 75-80 mph in SW). Get ready for a lot of bug guts on the front of the pano-sun roof. They hit the underside of the cargo box and splat on the sunroof. May not want to drive with the sunroof open with the cargo box in high bug areas. I keep a package of windex wipes to help scrub off the bug guts.

Haven’t taken it out on the RDX yet, but used it for 3 years on my old MDX and worked great. However the MDX has running boards which help to reach it as I’m short at 5’7”, so I’m not sure if I should put running boards on, just step inside the floor with door open which is working so far, or buy a little portable stool.

We’re a family of 4, and it holds about 13 sq ft in the box.
so whereas my wife’s gigantic suitcase, my suitcase, a cooler, and my bug out bag will go in the back of the RDX, up top I usually put the kids suitcases, baby pack and play, high chair, some emergency gear, etc, and still use maybe half of the cargo box with room to spare.

My wife is 4'11" and I'm the only one that can put stuff in/out of the cargo box. My MDX also have side steps to help reach into the cargo box. I sometimes open the car door and stand on the door sill in my 08 RDX; but, it isn't as sturdy as standing on the side steps and I have to hold with one hand sometimes to keep from falling backwards (makes is difficult to grab large bulky items). Small price to pay for needing extra travel storage 2-3 times a year.

Thanks for the reference! What is the approximate length on that cargo box, 75"?

I am looking into get a Yakima cargo box but just don't know how it will look when I get a box that fits snowboards.
