Test Drove SH-AWD Advance - VERY IMPRESSED
#41
Actually, it depends on the version of the RDX. The Advance model gets only a rating of "Acceptable" from IIHS, which seems a bit odd considering it has the adaptive headlight system that the other trims don't get.

I believe the A-Spec also have adaptive headlight, if I am not mistaken (Canadian)

Not sure what you are looking at but I am seeing the rating of "GOOD"

This post ( https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g.../#post16283925 ) has a summary of the IIHS testing that shows the adaptive systems have more usable light in all scenarios but one so it's logical the only basis for the downgrade from 'good' to 'acceptable' has to be the glare rating.

Scroll down to the 'Technical Measurements' (near the end) and you'll see the different ratings for the Advance and all other trims.

Costco Auto Program
Agree that some of the accessories are not just "very," but extremely, involved (or complicated). I'm a little reticent in the DIY department, so other than the no brainer stuff like putting down the mats...lol...I will let them install.
I do get 15% off accessorties, courtesy of the Costco Auto Program, plus an additional 50% off accessory coupon for completing a Costco customer experience survey within 30 days of purchase, which is pretty sweet.

I haven't purchased the car yet because my build date was pushed back to the last week of this month (delivery ~mid-October). The Costco Auto Program (CAP) deal has me at $750 over invoice (translates to $2,416 below MSRP) before any other incentives like loyalty and military discounts (I qualify for both, so it's an additional $1,750 off).

Maybe $750 over invoice sounds good to some based on some dealers willingness to negotiate but to me that's a very crappy deal. The COSTCO program does no one any real favors and you can, typically, negotiate a far better deal using the COSTCO price as your starting point in your negotiation.

I think that’s a great starting point for price, $750 over invoice on a new model released just this summer.
curious to see if you will be able to receive further incentives and discounts (on parts too). Keep us posted with your negotiations!
thanks!

so far, it seems that the RDX is winning that battle, and Acura will likely try to increase supply. There is still a measurable cost difference between the RDX and acceptable models of the competition.

The Costco program negotiates the best price based on real-time market research, so it's not just some nilly-willy random price that gets thrown out there. If you try to negotiate lower, you're on your own and right now, the demand is too high (at least in my area) to expect too much. Sure you can wait until the 2020 model is about to be come out to start seeing ~10% off of MSRP or something, but then you ask, why are you in the market for a new RDX now then?

There were two allocations for September (one of which is mine) and when the first one came in, I told my guy, "if the deal for that first one falls through, let me know." He said OK, but "not likely." lol
