Squeak when pressing brake

I have a 2020 RTX, Aspec and the brake pedal makes a squeaking noise when I remove my foot from it. Can anyone suggest what to lubricate it with and where to spray to eliminate the annoying noise?

I use white lithium grease to stop the squeaking from my clutch (on the Porsche) and brake pedals. It comes in a spray can and works well and if you get an excessive amount on the linkage, it usually won’t stain clothing like a pants cuff. It is also the recommended lubricant for the parts in a garage door opener so that $10 may provide multiple uses. Advance and AutoZone carry it, sometimes combined with Teflon in DuPont product. In a pinch, WD-40 will quiet things down but since the “typical’ WD-40 isn’t a lubricant, it will at best be temporary. They do make a product called WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease in a spray can that will work well. It is usually about $10 at Walmart, around $7 if you catch a sale.

As tt where to spray…if two parts move relative to each other, they can probably use the lubricant. That might mean numerous places. So simply move the pedal and watch what moves, then give it a shot of lubricant.

There is also a TSB for this, dealer will replace with non squeaky pads. Free if you are still under warranty. I'm going in for my 2022 next week for that and an oilchange.

I’m thinking the OP was referring to something

I think the OP was referring to a squeak inside the vehicle when he pressed/released the brake pedal. As you point out, there is a TSB about pad replacement to eliminate a squeel from the wheels when backing up, and dominantely in cold weather. I just had my 2022 RDX done under the TSB, both front and rear, and it seems to have worked although we haven’t had really cold temperatures lately.

I had the same noise in my 2019 RDX as found in this video. I had my dealer replace the brake pedal light switch as per the video and the noise went away.

There is an old adage in the medical field that "if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras" and in this instance I'm inclined that the switch replacement wasn't necessary. That is supported in 50+ years of servicing my own cars, probably 20 in total and never having had to replace the switch but often having to just simply lubricate the linkage. I watched/listened to that video, even went so far as to use quality stereo headphones, and I fail to hear much of a squeak or squeal from the switch operation portrayed. Keep in mind as well that the person in the video first lubricated everything except for the switch plunger. I would initially just lubricate everything, then retest and if need be invest in the switch which will run from about $20 to $40 depending on the source..

I did all of that, but the noise remained. Thankfully, the replacement part was free of charge as it was covered under my extended warranty.
