I was waiting on a highway off ramp for the turn light to go green to turn right, and a large truck flew by me going straight and he clipped my side mirror as he went by, pretty hard. Knocked the mirror forward, broke the glass and broke the plastic around the mirror. Somehow the metal case around the mirror survived with only a small mark or two. SUCKS!!
So now I have to deal with this thing. I am sure that the replacement mirrors come unpainted, so I would prefer to have the glass and the plastic just replaced, but I don't know if that's possible. I sent off an email to Curry Acura Parts to see what my options are. Freaking truck just drove off so this is on me. Wonderful.
If you're willing to take the mirror apart and use the internals, you can go with just the housing and mirror lens:
That means you'd be reusing all the internal hardware from the mirror assembly such as the motor, heater, wiring, mirror mount, etc.
My wife had a close encounter with the side of the garage when backing out and did the same thing to the passenger side mirror on my TL. I just bought the pre-painted housing and mirror lens and did it myself. It's not too bad. It's unlikely based on the pictures that there's any damage to the internals. Looks to be only superficial damage.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, those parts are for the 2018 RDX. Mine is a 2019. The inner parts still work, I can move the mirror and all. I would assume that the heater works as well.
Ah, gotcha. Well, I wonder if the 2018 parts would fit the 2019. It's unlikely they've changed things up much since 2018. There hasn't been a mid-model refresh yet.
However, according to my paperwork, my RDX is "Performance Red Pearl". Is "Extreme Crimson Pearl" the same, maybe Canadian? I am not sure of the difference.
It is encouraging at least that I might be able to just replace the mirror and interior case rather than the entire thing. Time will tell.
I will post all of the details going forward so the next member that gets smacked by a jerk has a simple course to follow.
I know the parts diagram is missing from the Bernardi website, and I think its because they have not uploaded all the info on the 2019 RDX yet. The parts list should be all there, after you pick the year, model, trim, and parts.....
If you look at the label on the drivers door jam, you will see the paint code (I believe its at the bottom of the label).
I believe your paint code is R-568P Performance Red Pearl. The part number I provided has the same paint code, but I guess they got the name wrong.....
Here is a list of all the official paint codes from the Service Manual, for the 2019 RDX:
Thanks pgeorg, you've been very helpful. I sent Bernardiparts an email with the story and the pictures and they got back to me asking for my VIN within the half-hour, which is most impressive.
I'll post back when I hear again from them.
BIG THANKS to 'pgeorg' for pointing me to Bernardi Parts at Acura of Boston. Excellent service. They responded to my email within minutes, replied with the parts required, and after I ordered them I got a confirmation email and a 'Thank You'. That's outstanding service if you ask me.
They even sent the exploded view of the mirror! (I ordered part 13 and part 14). Not sure how long they'll take to get, I am sure these are not something that is stocked. Maybe they're in Windsor Locks, but who knows.
Holy Crap pgeorg! That was awesome of you to post that disassembly instructions. Don't know how you got them, but I am sure glad you did. This should be a piece of cake with your help.

Thanks again
I have a subscription to Hondas online Service Manual.
Let me know if you need anything else along the way.....
Thanks oblio98 and pgeorg for this info. I will try this fix myself. I just sent an email to Bernardi Acura for the parts.
I just got my car last week and someone hit the mirror (broke a piece of the housing off which is just enough for water to leak into the housing so I'm thinking of replacing the housing) and scraped the side of the front fender while my car was parked last night! Mirror is also a little loose at the folding hinge but sturdy enough so I don't have to change the part that attaches to the car.
