If not, I stand corrected.
Check AcuraLink subscription status in settings if you really want to put this to rest.

It downloaded automatically for me, showed up when I turned on the car. It definitively is a free download over cellular as my car does not connect to my work WIFI network. They mention it in th press release:
”Using the vehicle's embedded 4G LTE Wi-Fi system, the new software is downloaded in the background while the vehicle is being driven or when turned off. To initiate the update, however, the vehicle must be on and running in a well ventilated area.”

But I wonder how they know if the vehicle is in a well ventilated area?
BS aside, mine started the download in "accessory mode" ( engine off ) and then I was afraid to do anything to upset it, so I sat in the car and shivered until it finished. Yes, I'm paranoid. With cause.

VERY happy with this update so far. Drove maybe 30 minutes home tonight and no skipping, or anything else that sometimes happens. Everything worked as it should and I am cautiously optimistic that this might finally be a done issue. I truly hope so. We will see but so far, so good!

It's worth noting that if the update is being "pushed" over the AT&T cellular service, that can't happen if there isn't a signal at your location. I know coverage is spotty in my area.

So, I have a question....
In order to use Android Auto or even Carplay the cell phone needs to be plugged into the USB port in the center compartment near the cup holders...??
I just assumed it used Bluetooth to connect with AA and/or Carplay.

Yes, you need to plug in to the USB port for AA. Some manufacturers have wireless connectivity for CarPlay and AA but not Acura.

Nope, has to be plugged in for CarPlay, RDX doesn’t support wireless CarPlay, in fact few cars do. I think for AA some phone manufacturers are making wireless easier, but I don’t believe the RDX supports that either.

In this thread regarding the last update, version D.1.1.4 was released to the US on about August 29, 2019. I did not have access to it in Canada until September 30, 2019. I actually received a letter from Acura a few days later to advise me of the update.
I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait a month this time as well.

Same here.. I can get AA running, but Waze only on the phone. Google Maps on car screen only. I see no way to change that. No icon for waze on AA apps... Choosing Waze using directions arrow on AA main screen just runs it on phone.

With all of that said, if you really want to go wireless, there is a way to do it. You will need a spare Android device or one of those cheap Android TV sticks. I have not tried this yet but its from the same maker as HeadUnit Reloaded. It doesn't cost much and you really have nothing to lose if you have a spare Android device laying around:

This whole conversation is deja vu all over again after the D1.1.4 update.

You subscribe directly through AT&T for the in-car WiFi service, but you subscribe with Acura for AcuraLink; Acura contracts with AT&T.
So Acura can do whatever they want with the AcuraLink service, including pushing OTA updates to vehicles with expired AcuraLink subscriptions. If they want to.
But why is it so inconsistent?
The other question is whether the infotainment system needs to be set to accept the OTA update. That's worth checking in settings.

@Ludepower Do you have your wireless connection for updates turned on? I think it's turned off by default - I remember turning mine on when I first got the car.
My update downloaded on its own - it was just there when I turned on the car.

Atleast I know I'm connected. Still trying to understand the difference between cellular OTA, acuralink, and a&t. What's free, what's not and the trial period.
I will truly never figure this car out lol

Guessing Canada is slow.
Probably just takes awhile to translate the system into French; "Hey, doesn't Jules down in accounting speak French? Let's get him on this..."

The subscription AT&T in-vehicle WiFi service ( via cellular ) is separate from the AcuraLink cellular service. Depending upon when you purchased your vehicle, it may still have "complimentary" AcuraLink cellular service.
If not, I stand corrected.
Check AcuraLink subscription status in settings if you really want to put this to rest.

Got mine this AM and all went well. I did not renew at any level the Acuralink service that came with the car and got the update fine. Very nice.
Although I was not having carplay issues, I tried the carplay all the way home today, used Waze, music, phone, Google Maps satellite view, turned off the car to get gas, got back in, no issues at all.
Very Nice! (Would have been even nicer a year ago! )

All of the questions regarding the AT&T In Car WiFi and AcuraLink are answered in the owners manual which can be downloaded for FREE to any comparable device. If you have questions your answers are there, I found my answers to the same questions there. Easy breezy!
