Pay $119 every year for as long as they own their RDX, OR purchase an AAWireless dongle ($90 USD) or a Motorola MA1 dongle ($100 USD) (and use Google maps or Waze for navigation)

What makes the decision even harder is that purchasing a dongle is a one time expense. Even when you get rid of the RDX, you can use the dongle in the next car.

I have been debating the decision in my head, since the free updates will soon be expiring on my 2020 RDX.
The problem is the speed limits displayed on the HUD. I believe they are also displayed on the instrument panel in non-HUD models. I've triple checked the manual and you cannot turn this display off. So, if you don't update the internal maps, you get old speed limits.

I don't mind plugging in my phone via cable and using Google Maps or Waze- in fact the car's built-in nav has been a backup for me, useful when I can't plug in my phone or need to find something without Internet access. I do mind incorrect speed limits next to the speedometer on my HUD that cannot be turned off!

This most recent update messed up my local speed limits that were correct prior to the update. Most 25mph roads are now showing 35mph and those roads will never be increased to 35mph. I agree, I wish the speed limit could be turned off.

I got an email yesterday that there is a new map update. I never got that before. Only 4 months after the date of the update.

The update itself was just issued late last month I believe, but the email was still late to even that milestone. Based on past updates, Acura typically releases the navi update ~3 months after the date of the map update. Why, is anyone's guess.

Happy holidays everyone!
