New 2019 Honda Passport a competitor for the RDX
It seems that Honda is bringing out a new Honda Passport placed between the CRV and Pilot. Some sources claim a V6 while others say a 2.0 liter Turbo with a 10 speed. This should be interesting.

If true, I think it fills a void in honda's products. We just put a deposit down today on an RDX for the wife. We were originally thinking Honda CRV, but that thing drives like such a turd and is over $34k for the touring model to get AWD with LED headlights. Dealership says they can't keep them on the lot and that seemed right since they had a bunch of LX's, but only a couple higher trim levels.
If they had offered a honda with a decent powertrain and similar to size to RDX (but cheaper), we might have gone that route. Sounds like that might be the target for the Passport.
All that said, they will need to find a happy middle ground for the passport between the CRV and the RDX. A top of the line AWD CRV is ~$34k and the base AWD RDX is ~$40k. I know $6k isn't chump change, but that's not a lot of room to squeeze a passport into. We ended up getting the tech package, so it was about a $9k difference between the honda and acura, but that still seemed like a no brainer comparing the 2 cars.
Honda is definitely doing something right with the CRV based on how many you see on the road, but it's certainly not a driver's car (nor in the pilot). Hopefully the passport will be a little more exciting.
