I believe HERE is currently owned by a consortium of car companies, including BMW and VW/Audi. Not sure if Honda/Acura has a stake. Hmmmm.

I have never been notified of any map updates from Honda in the past...I do get them from Subaru. It would be nice for Acura to send out a notification that they are available and ready for download. You need to go to the Acura Garmin link above and follow the instructions. Same as my son's 2018 Honda Accord and easy to do.

Maybe it will come out soon how to update the cars, but I am not messing with things yet.

I looked at that link, and we have a HERE system, not, specifically, Garmin, and the instructions show an NSX, not an RDX. I logged in to my Acura owners page, and the Nav link sends me to the HERE site, which does not have a 2019 RDX. Roads don’t change that much in the Northeast.

It makes zero sense that there are no updates for a 2018 RDX when HERE comes out with updates every September - October time frame like clock work. The latest updates are marked 2018/2019 so anything that falls into a 2018 MY should have an update available. When the 2019 RDX's went into production, the updated HERE 2018/2019 map software would not have been released so not a stretch at all that an update will hit before year end for the 2019 version. Even vehicles in production now, most likely, would not include any update as they sit in boxes awaiting installation into a dash and the factory does not update the headunits before they leave for dealer lots. I do believe we will see one shortly but stranger things have happened.....

There was briefly a 2019 map update available from HERE, linked to from the page you guys are looking at, but it got pulled. It required downloading a map downloading app, and the installer for the map downloading app wasn't playing nicely with some client OS variants. I got bit by the bug, but I muddled through by switching to another computer and I got the downloader app working and the update installed on the RDX via USB thumb-drive. But other forum members made contact with Acura Customer Relations and/or HERE Customer Service, neither of whom had the slightest clue ( "Oh, there's a map update for 2019 RDX already?" ) and the whole shebang got pulled.
[edit] Upon further review, there were problems with getting the map update to install in the vehicle, as well as problems getting the maps downloaded.
It looks like I installed the mapdownloader app on July 9, so they have only had about 3.7 months to try to get their act together. Geez, you guys are impatient...

Downloading it now.
For the previous update, it was claimed that it would install on the headunit "in the background" when the vehicle was running, and would resume installation after the vehicle was turned off and restarted. That was not my experience; I had to leave the car turned on in "accessory mode" for hours to get the update installed.
It will be interesting to see if the behavior of the update has improved. I suspect the revision level of the headunit software may come into play.

I am getting this error message when entering my information:
We are unable to find the VIN provided. Please check the VIN and try again or contact us.
Called HERE support and they told me my vin is not registered because it's a Garmin NAV. I said no it's not it's HERE. They said they can't help me so I am in the phone with Acura now...frustrating to say the least.

I downloaded it, it took a very long time and I had to run the installer program as an administrator. Too complicated for the average owner who likely has no clue what to do when the initial installer times out because of not enough memory. Assuming, even, he gets past Windows Defender blocking the thing altogether, and Microsoft also tring to scare him away.
I will install it in the car eventually.

This website, you also need the VIN number to download the update.

Yes that’s how I found out, because if I click the link provided above, it automatically redirect me to Canadian site, which not offer an update for 2019..

It's cooking in the RDX now.
I plugged in the thumb drive with the update, with the car in "accessory mode" ( one push of the start button without pushing the brake pedal, because I have learned in other Acuras that leaving the car in "ON" without the engine running is a great way to drain the battery to zero ), but nothing happened. So I spent the next 10 minutes fumbling around in the headunit menus, finding nothing that worked.
So I grudgingly turned the car "ON" ( pushed the start button again without pushing the brake pedal ) and a message briefly appeared "map update installing". Then I turned the car off and turned it back on to "accessory", and it again flashed "map update installing" on the headunit screen, then went back to normal display. So I'll give it a few hours to stew and then check on it. Dunno why it wouldn't start the update in "accessory mode" to begin with.
BTW, MacOS put up a pretty good fight about installing the mapdownloader app when I did it back in July. I let that bear lie undisturbed and didn't try to reinstall it.

When I checked the stew pot after almost an hour, the car had turned itself off from "accessory mode", but the map version is now 2018.10.18 ( previously 2018.6.27 ). So success, I guess.

Thanks for being our beta tester. I just finished the download, but will wait until tomorrow to do the update. We just got back from a 1200 mile road trip, and I did notice that the section of Interstate 140 near Wilmington, NC that opened late last year wasn't even on our navigation, it showed us driving through the marsh.

I am waitng on the status updates from someone to determine if it is worth the effort to update. Hopefully they have attempted to resolve some of the issues with the navigation scalling and additional features.

I wouldn't expect too much from the map update. Changes tend to be minor, and as noted, this is NOT a software update.
I doubt the map update would go any faster at the dealer, but if you have it in for maintenance or whatever you could always ask if they will install it.
I think we may all be begging for software updates at the dealer, because I have little faith in the "over-the-air" or "USB thumb drive customer install" paradigms. But I would be happy to be wrong about that.

Took about 1:15 to compete the map update. Last week on a road trip, a section of interstate I-140 in N.C. that opened 10 months ago was missing on our route. I did an explore after the update, and it’s there now.
