Height of door edge for garage protection

Hi everyone,

I searched but had no luck finding an answer. Does anyone know the height of where the door would strike a garage wall? So the height at which the widest part of the door would be?

I am hopefully taking delivery of my RDX in early April and want to make sure the wall padding is in a good place.

Thank you!

I don't currently have an RDX, but when I get a new car, I will open the door (gently against the garage wall) and mark the contact spot. Makes it easy to put "padding" in the right place.

Yup, that will be the plan unless someone here knows already. Just trying to get that done before it arrives.

The part of the door on my 2019 RDX Advanced that would hit the wall is between 12"-20". It is pretty straight in that area and the entire 12"-20" area would come in contact with the wall.

Any idea on how high off the ground that is? Good to know I have an 8" of space to make sure the matting is in a position to stop it from hitting.

12"-20" off the ground. I measured from the ground to the lowest and highest points that would contact my wall in my garage.

Gotcha, Thank you so much for doing that! I really appreciate it.

What are you planning to use for protection? I've previously seen people cut a 'pool noodle' in half lengthwise and glue/staple/nail it to the drywall, (which seems like it would work fine), but curious what else would work.

(Though it doesn't matter much to us at the moment, as we recently sold our '15 Accord since I still WFH and we wanted to take advantage of the insane used car market, haha. RDX has plenty of space all alone in the garage for now).

I have this stuff: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like it because it is not bulky. Not a lot of space to open the door already, so I couldn't add too much.

in case you need to know, the rear door contact point with the wall in my garage is 42" from the ground.

I use this https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40066725/ so it's protected everywhere and this https://lamin-x.com/paint-protection...le-cup-guards/ to prevent fingernail scratches behind the handle. Pretty much invisible.

BTW, rather than using padding, why don't you open the door manually just until it is about an inch from the ceiling. Then you press and hold "tailgate close" button for about 3 seconds until you hear a beep. That will set how far the tailgate opens going forward.

It's the side doors hitting the wall of the garage. It's a split 2 door (so wide open in the middle but has a center part at the entrance). I use the left side and pull into the garage since my youngest is in the rear passenger. It makes it a fairly tight squeeze getting in and out. The walls have marks everywhere from the doors hitting the wall when my oldest and I get out. My current car has rubber edge guards and I just didn't care. Now the wall looks terrible, so I am going to touch it up and use padding to stop that from happening again. I'll either get the color matched guards or just use 3m for the RDX.

Whoops, my bad...I saw "height" and immediately thought tailgate and ceiling. I'm not the best comprehensive reader
