fuel mileage
For those of you who had the previous generation RDX, how does the fuel mileage compare? I only have 1300km on my 2021 and I thought I was doing a little better with the range I am getting out of a tank of gas, but I just checked and this tank is bigger. 2013 RDX 60.5 litres and 2021 RDX 64.7 litres. I really like this car but do miss my 6 cylinder, the gas mileage appears to be close.
Wife and I just took a 700 mile trip from OH to CT and RDX was loaded all the way to the back of the front seats with many weighty items.
I typically only get 22mpg on 87 octane (calculated) on these road trips, averaging 75mph.
On this trip, and just for yuks and giggles, I fueled up with 89 octane and mileage improved to 24mpg (calculated) while trip computer showed 22mpg.
Same trip in my ‘18 MDX GOT 26-28mpg....fuel economy is not one of the RDX strong suits.

Yep. With mixed driving with most of the miles on the highway, the car struggles to get over 22MPG combined. Gas mileage wasn't a concern, but it is surprising how thirsty this little 4-banger is.
I'm confused because everyone says the RDX has very low gas mileage. I have long commutes (but mostly highway), so even though I get around 25 mpg I have to fill up like once a week, which does stink. But at the same time, 25 mpg isn't awful. I'd say it's about average for this segment of car (CUV). I came over from a compact sedan type of car, which of course had better fuel mileage, even though it was a much older car, but that should hardly surprise anyone given that this car is larger, heavier, and mine is AWD. Also, that guy said that his RDX was loaded with lots of stuff, making it even heavier, so really 22 mpg with a completely full car is not shabby.

I didn’t buy my RDX for the gas mileage, but I’m still a little disappointed. I average 21 or 22 which isn’t great. If I use sport + too much, I have a lot of fun but mileage drops into the upper teens. Mileage is better than my F150, but barely.

The mileage really isn't about how fast or slow you're driving, it's about how hard the engine is working. Like when I drive around an area with lots of stop signs and I'm going at 25 mph, my mileage (which is estimated by the bar on the dash) is terrible because I'm constantly at low gear and at high rpm. I think I'm getting like 5 mpg, no exaggeration. On the highway, it's likewise not necessarily if you're going fast, but how you're driving.
