Dr. ColorChip Repair System

Hi all,

So, I discovered today a nice rock chip smack dab in the middle of my hood. I know it happens, but the vehicle isn't even a week old! I have a lot of highway driving for my work commute, so I'm sure this won't be the first chip I get. With that being said, I am thinking about ordering some Dr. Colorchip. Has anyone used this stuff before? If so, how would you rate it? Is it worth the money?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I will say the color match, at least for liquid silver, is perfect. The technique is a bit tricky. What I did was go to a local body shop with some tinsnips and cut out a piece of a body panel. The color I didn’t really care about. I wanted to introduce a scratch, which was my problem, then use the various materials to practice getting the “level” of the paint to conform to the body panel. It took a few attempts to get the procedure correct.

On the hood, you will not want to do touch-up (with any product) unless the metal is out of the sun and at room temperature. The slower the paint is allowed to dry, the better. You essentially lay paint into the damaged area, then wipe across the area to remove the excess.

I have used it and i think it works great. It may take several coats but it certainly works better than tradition brush/pen solutions.

I had an 06 IS350 brand new...was scheduled to get the front mask a week after purchasing. Like you I got a chip right after buying it and before the mask
