Crazy price for welcome lighting!
So I've had my 2020 adv shawd for almost a year now and want to spruce it up with some exterior welcome lighting. I called up 3 dealers in my area and the lowest price I could find was $700 mostly because of 3 hours of labor needed. Anyone else have experience in this area?

Anytime you are not doing it yourself you will pay dearly for labor. The labor cost is usually half the part or more i.e 300$ part cost 300-400$ to install (700$ total). It all depends on the complexity. Sometimes a cheap 50$ part cost 1.5-2x for installation. I stay away from dealer or shop install unless I am not mechanically or DIYer inclined. Also if I do it I take my time. My Acura dealer install a remote starter and in the process broke the trim plastic clips and all the trims are now bent out of shape. The fir is no longer flush. The techs are sloppy and don’t really care for your car as much as you do. Take time to research and browse YouTube and do it yourself if you can.

I installed these welcome lights from a previous Amazon vendor on my 2019 Acura RDX and they are still going strong. They are much brighter than the OEM welcome lights. I also converted every incandescent bulb to LED, but that's not important now.

Q: Why not just order CHUNLING Compatible Acura Car Door Led Logo Lights Projector,3D Shadow Ghost Light Welcome Emblem Lamp for Acura RLX/ZDX/TLX/TL Accessories 2 Pack from Amazon and DIY? These will work with the Third Generation Acura RDX. The conversion is so easy even a caveman can do it. It's all plug and play. The cost: Pricless. Enjoy.

These are the Acura Welcome Lights I originally ordered from Amazon and installed in my 2019 Acura RDX Tech. They are currently not available from the vendor: Car Lights for Door LED Car Ground Lights Laser Projector Logo Car Door Lights Welcome Light for for Acura Plug and Play 2 pack
These are the Acura Welcome Lights offered by another vendor. Although "This listing doesn't mention the Gen 3 RDX," the light fixtures are identical: CHUNLING Compatible Acura Car Door Led Logo Lights Projector,3D Shadow Ghost Light Welcome Emblem Lamp for Acura RLX/ZDX/TLX/TL Accessories 2 Pack
$12.12 and FREE Shipping from Amazon Prime v $700 from the "stealer"? The decision is up to the OP. Good luck.

You're welcome JB in AZ. Yes, I actually DIY'ed these Welcome Lights in my 2019 Acura RDX Tech. You can buy from Amazon with confidence: "Amazon.com and most sellers on Amazon.com offer returns for items within 30 days of receipt of shipment." I'm not employed by Amazon or compensated by them. I just want to help out fellow forum members with their mods and upgrades. Good luck.

The Welcome Lights the OP is talking about having a dealer installing are lights that install under the car and come on when you unlock from a distance lighting up the area around the car before the doors are opened.

I will ask my mechanic and see how much it costs from independent shop.

Check out windfireauto.com
Its the same as above, but a ton of different options, and you can customize it too if you want. I have them in my 2015 TLX. Great quality for the price, takes a dummy about 10 minutes to install, highly recommend!

Boy, I feel silly. I saw this thread yesterday and ordered a 4 pack from Amazon, but later realized my back doors don't have door lights. Is that only available on the Advance model (I have an A-Spec). If so, is that something that could be added easily or am I out of luck?
#20
Looking at the back doors, I don't even see a spot where the lights could be installed. There's no panel you could pop out or anything. So I assume it must be an "Advance" model option only? If so, the door panels must be different, then?

For clarification, I have a 2019 Acura RDX Tech. Only the front driver's and front passenger's doors have lights. Whether you call them "puddle" or "welcome" lights, I'm lovin' it!!!
#24
I admit I'm an idiot, then. I purchased the 4-light kit solely based on the pic you provided initially, which showed front and back door "puddle" lights. It's the wife's car, not mine, so I'm not as familiar with it as I am with my Charger Hellcat LOL...
#25
As my old friend Chic Hearn used to say, "No harm, no foul, no blood, no ambulance." After all, it's only money. Now you will have a backup set of "puddle/welcome" lights. Redundancy is a good thing. Enjoy.

The aftermarket "puddle/welcome" lights are way brighter than the OEM incandescent lights. Go for it!

For some clarification since this nomenclature appears to be causing confusion and I want to make sure people are making informed choices
puddle light
-under the door or mounted under the driver/passenger mirror
-activated when the door is opened
-cheap to install; can do it yourself easily
Welcome light
-underside of the vehicle
-activates when the car is unlocked
-cost ~$800 for installation

I have the "Welcome Lights" installed on my 2019 RDX. These are not the "puddle lights" that everyone is showing pics of. I will take a pic of my welcome lights tonight and post a pic.

As promised, here are pics of my 2019 RDX with the Welcome Lights. These are under the SUV and light up the underside as you approach the car. They turn on (at night only) when you unlock the car or open the door.
