Built 2019 QX50 & RDX
RDX has a huge advantage over the new QX50. On average, the QX50 is $4 - $7K more expensive than the RDX.
I built an Acura RDX - A-Spec and Infiniti QX50 - Sensory, both cars have very similar options but the QX50 costs $7K more the new RDX.
The top RDX (Platinum Elite) costs $66K vs. $69K for QX50 (Autograph)
What's your take guys?
*All prices are included taxes and CDN $. Pricing is based off Quebec, Canada.

I sat in the Q50 at the auto show, and it was very nice; I was favorably impressed with the looks of the exterior and the interior.
However, with all the other cars in that general range, I see no way in hell that I would choose one with a CVT, let alone try out a whole new engine design. I would certainly not pay a premium for that car, nor would I pay the same either.

If Acura could do a little better on the performance side, they would obviate the need for Infiniti. Infiniti has some great performance packages but their interiors are sub Honda quality and the fit and finish doesn't hold a candle to Acura.

I'm sure you can get more discounts on the QX50 to make the number closer than it appears on paper.
The question is which car do you want more?? It seems like if you are asking the question, you are leaning towards QX50 but the lower price of RDX appeals to you...
but you mentioned performance.... what performance attributes you think the QX50 has better?

IMO there’s no comparison - the RDX wins hands down. But I have an Infiniti and maybe I’m sick of the two screen setup but it does work very well even though it’s a bit aged. I’m getting sucked in by the new RDX interior as I think it looks so good.

Trust me you’ll want to stay away (far away) from any Nissan CVT. The infamous Nissan CVT “shudder” has plagued them since 2009. I should know since I own a 2013 Nissan Altima that often “shudders” when accelerating from a dead stop. Another Class Action should be arriving at Nissan of North America about this ongoing issue. Lots of Nissan CVT unhappiness out there.

Thanks Rob175, you just gave me the last excuse to ditch the QX50 and focus on the RDX. Now i just need to sit back and wait until end of summer to see what the RDX lease terms will be.
