Build date to dealer deliver time estimates?

Nope. Black out. I’m sure from his angle he said he’d let me know. And I have to assume there’s nothing to ‘let me know.’ But I don’t pester the guy and you’d think customer service would mean something. Maybe this will be bang bang, i.e. they get a vin and a few days later the car is here. Let us know when you learn anything and I’ll post something/anything once I have it.

Update Kids...Stopped by the dealer today. Sales guy claims he didn’t get my texts or phone message. Ok. Moving on. I was originally told a build date of July 14 but the guy who manages all the purchases and moves all the cars around showed me their sheet where my car had a build date of July 15-19. So it shifted I guess, but the take away based on my car and others on this thread, is that there is a ‘build’ window for a purchased vehicle. For regular production the build date doesn’t matter as much since cars being built aren’t sold. Mine was the only name on the sheet, attached to a car. All the other cars are ones they in the que for but he said Acura is not allowing any more ‘pre-sales’ for purchases. I guess this relates to the car’s popularity and not wanting to frustrate potential buyers—can’t know for sure. Since my window showed the car should have been built no later than yesterday, the dealership expects a VIN possibly as early as tomorrow but surely by Wednesday. Then the roulette of delivery begins. Bottom line—things appear to be on track. I’ll post again when I have a VIN.

romer,
Congratulations on the progress you have made! Still no word from my dealer, will ping them again next week if I haven’t heard anything.

You might want to 'lean' on him a little. After I put my deposit down I heard nothing at all for a couple weeks. Sent an email asking for a status and offering some alternatives (like a factory order) and amazingly within a couple hours my dealer 'called in a favor' and had one for me with a scheduled build of 7/15-19. Can't hurt to try.

My dealer tried to swap and/or trade but wasn’t successful, then they checked the Acura system somehow and saw one slated for build on July 14 (since changed a bit). They were able to claim it on a “pre-sale” with my name on it. If they had to order one, that is a two month minimum and likely more. A friend just ordered an Advance from another dealer and was told two months. My dealer says ordering one and getting it in two months is unlikely. By the way, the dealer wanted me to buy from them as I’ve always purchased from a competitor. We settled the terms of the deal, signed an agreement, and shook hands. They asked if I could put something down but I hadn’t planned to buy that day and didn’t have my checkbook. So they told me not to worry about. Never had that happen before.

I just went to my dealership yesterday and my car is apparently in transport (currently in Kansas). Estimated arrival date is 7/25 - 7/30, originally placed deposit and order on 5/30. So the dealership's estimate of 2-3 months was pretty accurate.

As an update, I am still waiting. Hopefully early this week. I put down my deposit in February, and originally my car was supposed to be built around 6/9 with delivery 2-3 weeks after that. I signed an agreement on pricing 6/21 with a delivery ETA of 6/27-7/2, which was delayed to 7/17-7/21. Safe to say, I've been rather patient but at this point I just want to be driving my new car.

Wow I would think with a deposit that early that you would have had a vehicle within the first month. Does the dealer have a ton of ‘18s on the lot and not getting any ‘19s?

Well to their credit, I had a specific request, Black over Ebony Advanced SH-AWD. Being in North Carolina, it seemed that their first shipment for launch in June were exclusively AWD. Looking at their current stock, they have a few dozen 2019's but only a handful of any trim are black. Lots of A-SPECs. I knew there would be some delay since mine was a custom order, but not this late.

I almost hesitate to post this. I contacted my salesman today and the RDX has been built and is in transit to the dealership. He still thinks I will have it by the end of the month. Considering the dealership is 2 hours away, times I can go up there are limited. On the up side, I will have a 2 hour ride home over some very fun roads .
My original build date was 7/15.

Another update today. I was on my dealer's web site. The inventory showed a SH-AWD Advance, MSM w/ebony. That is the car I ordered. I sent an email to my salesman and a few minutes later got a phone call! He confirmed that was the car my wife and I ordered. Unfortunately the car goes into their inventory when it is "in transit". My vehicle is currently in KY.
It sounds like I should have the car by the end of the month if I can swing going up on a Monday instead of Saturday.

Interesting thing about watching dealer inventory online. I've been doing that regularly for some time now - sometimes looking for a specific vehicle and sometimes just to get an idea of how fast inventory is moving. For about the last 2 weeks all the dealer web sites around here have shown no inventory movement at all - they're just not updating their sites. I called about a few RDXs feigning interest and was told in every case the one I was calling about was either sold or dealer traded.
What color are you guys waiting on for each of your RDX?.The reason I ask is because the Acura factory in Ohio paint the RDX's in batches of the exact same color. So I am curious if the delay may be because your color wasn't built until recently.

White/Parchment Advance AWD. Dealer said it was built last week and he should have it this week or early next. I asked if he had a VIN but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks and that dispels that thought about colors being the delay. Yours is white and his is MSM. The dealer should have the VIN. I was provided a VIN when I inquired about two different vehicles I wnated to purchase. The dealer can pull the VIN and provide it if they have it coming in soon.

I alos used the check dealer inventory while waiting for ours to show up; however, when the dealer inventory went from 'in transit' to 'on the lot' the vehicles actually did not arrive arrive at the dealer until about a week later.

Has anyone with a build window of 7/15 to 7/19 received a VIN number, or get any updates on delivery yet? I had one in the same window and my dealer still doesn't have a VIN information on shipping.

Tm55417,
I was watching my dealer's site pretty closely and "my" RDX showed up. When I talked to my salesman he said that was my car, VIN and all. On the Acura web site the car still shows "in transit" and my salesman told me he would call as soon as the car hits the lot. My build date was 7/15 and I saw the VIN on 24th.
Sorry I was outside your window, but maybe it will help.

My build date was exactly as yours. My dealer has been in contact with Acura's Traffic Assistant for logistics. I'm expecting some kind of message before the day is out. But as of now--no VIN and no transit info.

Finally got some information from my dealer. My build date got pushed out 7/23 -7/27. Hopefully, we will see some movement tomorrow...

Went to dealership today and they seemed to have a decent inventory of 2019's in stock. Can someone explain why they are ordering and waiting for shipment? Also what price do you pay when you go this route, is it essentially the same as MSRP?
#120
In my area, none of the dealers have an Advance in stock. You can find Techs and Base models, and that’s it..
