Boost Gauge Question

Hi all,

I have a 2021 RDX Aspec, and I have a question regarding the boost gauge on the dashboard. What does it mean when it goes downward and is purple? I get that when it's red and going up it's making boost. Also, I've noticed that sometimes that circle just goes bare if I'm not really on the gas.

Anyway, just curious if someone could explain this quickly? I have never had a turbo vehicle before, so this is all new territory for me.

Thanks much!

The purple indicates a vacuum state, which is the polar opposite of boost. For most people, it essentially states good MPG as the turbo isn't forcing the additional air into the engine and less fuel is being used.

I tend to stay off boost unless I am on the highway. I try to conserve my 93 octane gas
