Automatic driver’s seat movement

Hello,

I have a 21’ Aspec, and wanted to know if there is a way to disable the seat from moving back and forth when starting and shutting off the vehicle?

i liked it at first, but now I’m kind of finding it annoying. I have no issues getting in/out of the vehicle without its assistance.

Disregard, I figured it out.

How many of you use this feature?

If it raised the steering wheel automatically I would use it as I like mine low when I drive, but makes it a bit tight exiting. Just the seat moving isn’t worth it.

I'm thinking that this puts a lot of extra wear and tear on the seat motor as well. I disabled mine this morning.

I had it my two prior vehicles before my 2016 RDX and hated it. Turned it off immediately on both.

My Dad had a 2005 Inifiniti G35X with this feature. After the car was out of warranty for 6 months, the power seat motor seized up. To fix it would have cost $2-3k, as I recall, because he either needed a whole new seat or maybe it was a "seat assembly" or something, but whatever it was, you couldn't just replace the motor.

Since then, I have always turned this feature off. To be honest, unless you need to sit very close due to being very small, I can't see this being very useful anyway. I have no trouble just getting in.

Odd man out, I guess...I leave it on and kinda like it. I'm 6' 5" with bad knees so it helps to get in & out.

I liked it when I had my A-Spec and love it in my Ram 1500 now.

When I got my 2019 RDX, I thought it was more of an inconvenience than a convenience and turned it off.
When I got my 2021, I found that the feature didn’t work. I never reported it to the dealer because I don’t care.

I’m 6’3” and I have mild arthritis in my hip and neck, so I need the seat almost all the way back and down to not only get in easily but to be comfortable driving. It moved so little that I hardly noticed it was on. Then my wife (5’5”) got in one day with her fob (she hardly ever drives the RDX) and was spooked when the seat started moving “all by itself.” I turned it off.

In case anyone cares, I decided to turn my easy entry/exit feature back on. At first I thought it was a gimmick, but after a few days if not having, I am actually missing it!

Yeah it is definitely a nice feature to keep using. Regarding the seat motor you mentioned, those motors are pretty high quality and are rated for many cycles. I took a hammer to one before with several bashes and it still worked, but it gave a terrible rattle sound afterwords.
