Apple Carplay Wireless
Does anyone know or have you used any product/dongle that you can wirelessly communicate Carplay so you do not need to plug cable in everytime you get in your RDX ?
Any recommendation ? Thanks.

I have never seen or heard of one. I know for the RDX and Car Play you have to plug in. Others have stated that Wireless Car Play is slower and going wired is better plus you keep your phone charged.

fellow has it for his volvo: https://carplay2air.com/ here is a thread discussing it https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...er-CarPlay2Air

Thank you both !
I just found that it becomes inconvenient to plug every time (sometime forgot to plug too and only be aware after I start driving) + the phone cannot be laid flat so the phone flips left and right when the car makes sharp turn.
Will check out the hyperlink provided but also good to know that wireless carplay may have slower response

Not the greatest workaround but I also connected my phone to Bluetooth so at least when I forget to plug in I can still make calls and access to hand free Siri and music. Definitely car play has way better fidelity music wise than Bluetooth from what I’ve noticed.

Carplay wireless is not a software update, requires hardware for it. iOS supports it today but car manufacturers are slow to adopt (more costs on hardware)

[/ QUOTE]

You need to backup your iPhone and do a factory reset and set it up as a new iPhone then restore the phone from that back up. Also do a factory reset on the infotainment system but make sure you write down all your radio and sxm station presets before hand. I had a corrupt update from iOS installed on my iPhone when it came out. Since then no more problems.
Now the RDX does not have wireless CarPlay but you can use Siri Hands Free which requires the iPhone to be connected via Bluetooth. Make sure you have Hey Siri enabled. All of your Hey Siri requests will be answered and shown on the phone screen only and not on the infotainment screen but you use the talk button on the steering wheel to activate it or you can just say Hey Siri and tell her what you need her to do. It’s all in the manual for the car.

Google translate from French:
"I've never seen or heard of it. I know for the RDX and car to play you need to plug in.
Others have said that wireless car play is slower and gets better wired the longer you keep your phone charged."

Yes the audio quality is not as good as the wired connection.

The USB car2play dongle is generally believed to be incompatible with the Acura TTI system. The 2021 MDX will offer wireless CarPlay and Android auto; there is a remote possibility it will be made available to other models with the TTI system via software updates.

The 2021 MDX will have wireless charging but I can find NO information that the new MDX has or will have Wireless Apple CarPlay.

Just checked Canada site for MDX and no mention of wireless connection for Apple or Android. Only charging and Bluetooth. On the other hand the Koreans, in this case the Santa Fe is loaded with technology and will not even mention the Genesis line. As a long time Acura owner and fan I will wait to see the changes to 2022 RDX and then make my decision. The Koreans are in my rear view mirror and catching up fast.

Alexa Built-in, AcuraLink®, and wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® integration, and WiFi hot spot keep your devices connected. I'm curious to see what options become available if Apple releases a portless iPhone in 2021 or 2022. They're certainly heading that direction. I just hope that doesn't kill CarPlay for those of us who don't plan to upgrade our vehicle anytime soon.

DO NOT buy Carplay2Air, It does not work for 2019+ Acura RDX, although the website says it does. I bought one and it does not work. Cost more to return than to just resell it. Customer service is crap and they want you to send it back with you paying shipping and 20% restocking fees. BS

I have similar concerns. I guess Bluetooth is an option for audio, but what I bet is that Apple will release a dongle for us early adopters - like a legitimate, first-party version of that Carplay2go crap that everyone suggests, which will plug into a USB port and just connect to your phone. Will probably be $129, but cheaper than a new car haha.

Sign me up. I'll gladly pay for a genuine wireless carplay adapter. Plugging the phone in everytime you can get it the car becomes a needless chore.
