I changed the air filter in my 2019 Advance today, and noticed this piece in the air intake. What is it? Is it supposed to just sit loosely in position?

 

It is supposed to keep the intake tube from collapsing in on hard acceleration.

 

That makes sense, but I’m thinking “what good does it do if it’s loose like that?” So I looked at it again, and it appeared that it’s supposed to click into the notch just below the head, so I went out and pulled it down and it snapped into place. I’m guessing it wasn’t installed correctly when we had a front end accident earlier this year. Thanks for the clue.
