Acuracare on certified vehicles
Acuracare on certified vehicles
Hello folks,
Has anyone purchased an Acura Care Warranty on a certified pre-owned vehicle? I’ve gotten 3 quotes. One vendor told me they couldn’t sell me an Acura Care warranty on my certified RDX, the other two told me yes they can but that the warranty would start at the day of purchase.
If I remember correctly, when I purchase Acura Care for my MDX, it kicked in after my factory warranty expired, but this wasn’t a certified preowned vehicle. What has been your experience?
American Honda has the following statement on their website: Some benefits start from the purchase date of the service contract, while repair coverage¹ will begin right after the Honda or Acura Limited Warranty expires.

I have a CPO warranty on my 18 RLX Sport Hybrid that extended the 4/50k basic to 6yrs/100,000 miles and the 6/70k powertrain to 7yr/100,000 miles. The CPO warranty period started when the 18 RLX was originally sold in 2018. I only have +46,000 miles on the RLX and both warranties are about done because of time. I also purchased a 5yr/120,000 mile Acuracare warranty for my 19 MDX Sport Hybrid. I have +80,000 miles on the 19 MDX with Acuracare until Feb/2028. You can purchase Acuracare as long as the 4yr/50,000 mile basic warranty is still active. You might have to go with a 3rd party warranty if the vehicle is +50,000 miles. As far as I can tell, zero differences between CPO or Acuracare coverage during warranty period. You can also check with other Acura's dealerships online or with Honda dealerships to see if they give you a better price.
My "guess" would be Acura will take your money and double cover you if you add 5/120k Acuracare and have the CPO 100,000 miles warranty. Acuracare probably will not pay until the 100,000 mile CPO runs out. You can ask if Acura can give you credit for the 100k CPO to apply for a discount price towards the 5/120k Acuracare? I just used my 19 MDX Acuracare for the first time fixing a bad motor mount and front suspension bushings (paid $2600 in Jan/23 and Acuracare was charged $1914 for the fix).
