Acura finally has brake fix!
Just an update for everyone, you may want to ask your local dealer...Called service today to setup my oil change and asked if they had any update on the squealing brake issue. They said they have a fix! I was told if the squealing is coming from rear pads are replaced..if squealing is coming from front it will be pads and potentially rotors as well. Will be nice to get this one fixed finally!

I have no idea..my fronts squeal so hoping to have pads and rotors replaced. I don’t see how it will fix unless the composition of the pad/rotor is slightly different. Guess we’ll see

Yeah, this has been kicked bloody in several threads in Problems & Fixes. Brake squealing, and fixes, is doing big business in that section. Bring a lunch if just getting started.

I haven't had the problem so I haven't followed this closely, but some have said the part numbers have changed. To me, that means different somehow.

The TSB was officially updated in mid June, 2020. Dont get too excited, there are some reports that it does not fully address the issue, but its too early to tell. It will become more obvious in winter when temperatures drop. I had this TSB done in June, and my car is quiet, but it was also quiet before the TSB in warmer temperatures. I only had slight squeaks in winter time. Until winter, I can't know for sure if its totally resolved.

My was "fixed" for the second time back in July. Last year it was squeak only when cold for the first few stops. They did the first "fix" then. This Summer the squeak came back but was rare. They kept the car for two days and heard it and did the latest fix (Last month). I have not had a problem since but I will wait and see how this plays out over time. My service advisor (Lady who has been in this business a long time and is very knowledgeable) was cautious about if this would work as they have had issues with other cars. She told me one customer finally put on some high quality "high performance" aftermarket pads and never had another issue.

We've already had our brakes (everything, pads and rotors) replaced with "new" part numbers. That was a couple of weeks ago, when the new parts first became available. So far, so good. Brakes are nice and quiet and smooth the way they should be.

It almost sounds like there was a fix for the brakes, but they didn't apply it, waiting to see if I complain? Maybe some people don't notice. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's annoying and a bit embarrassing.
Got quite a long list of little things to get fixed at my first service ... HUD rattle, sunroof rattle, body panel fit is awlful (probably not much to be done on this) and a groan from the power hatch. Oh, and the (1) that has indicated an update since I got the car but was told is corrupt.
Still really enjoy owning this car, mostly because of how comfortable it is, how well it handles and how clear and well projected the stereo is, but the list of little things just keeps getting longer.

Apparently a new TSB for brake squeal/squeak came out in October 2020. I am very new to the term TSB (technical service bulletin). Is this something they must fix at NO CHARGE when you bring it up? I ask because my breaks have been squeaking from day one and I would love to get this fixed!

No thanks they had 2 chances to fix it and failed on both. I just put aftermarkets from R1 Concepts on the front and rear rotors and pads this past weekend. Not a peep from mine now! Great braking action and low dust so far!!👍👍👍👍👍👍

Still a free fix. I was able to get mine done yesterday after 1 failed attempt from end of 2019. All is good now, no squeal early in the morning. With the new control arm fix, my car now runs like brand new again. I got rid of the garbage Continental tires it came with and replaced them with Michelin's new CrossClimate 2.

I've had issues with squealing brakes since 2 months after first drove the car, when the temperatures dropped and our fall rainy season started. Always the first 4 or 5 brake applications of the day. The squealing was just brutally awful. Like getting your teeth drilled at the dentist. Dogs would start howling and fine crystal would shatter in homes by the stop sign. (yeah yeah..... hyperbole)
The latest brakes TSB hit Canada in the first week of November (I think the CSR mentioned Nov 5th or 7th). I had the work done the last week of November. New pads and rotors in front and new pads in rear.
I have NOT heard a peep out of them since. Pretty much 7 weeks now. Brake feel and stopping power are as good as before.
Now to get the "radio unavailable" bug dealt with.

What I dont understand, is that I had old brake TSB (one year old) applied to my car, and brakes been quiet since. Did older TSBs work better, is it different materials? Every day I listen for brakes at lower speeds, and nothing.

The brake noise so far is gone. We'll see what happens next winter once those brakes are worn in.

I also remember shortly after my fix was applied, the TSB was put on hold for a new update which I remember added the front brake pads being replaced on top of rotor exchange.
Again, mine was a 2019 RDX and for the 2020 RDX the rotors were perhaps updated at the time. There are two groups on the TSB and mine was the A group.
